wow, this hack brings splatterhouse 2 to fucking LIFE. the classic mask and more vibrant colors really put it on par with its predecessor

What are you even talking about?? It's the complete opposite. The colors look DESATURATED, faded and hideous in this hack version compared to the beautiful, bright, vivid, high-contrast colors of the original. There's not even any real black in this either. That color looks more like a dark gray. Looks absolutely terrible.

Cool hack but i prefer the mask from the third game and from reboot from 2010. And i would like to see, like a fan made remake, on OpenBor engine, of first 3 Splatterhouse games, but like in style of Splatterhouse reboot. With gameplay style of Streets of Rage 3, brutal and with some cool metal or even deathcore soundtrack. That would be cool.

@@venom74799 I can do only 2D sprites, but not the code. But for sprites i'm no using 3D models, only hand made 2D sprtes, which takes too long.

I would love to see a Splatter House movie starring Vin Diesel. Even though hes much older now.

It’s time for an official Splatterhouse 4 really, but imagine an open world version using the oculus! Actually having to truly endure Rick’s story thru his eyes could potentially be the best horror game in history.

You ruined it with those ugly, desaturated colors. I'm so sick of this new-age, faded color obsession nonsense. It was never cool and it ruined many great artworks in games, movies and animations. It's like looking at pictures of the great depression.

The description clearly states that this hack was made with the intention of getting this game to look more in line with the first Splatterhouse game on the arcade, which it does (and remarkably well, in fact). If anything, they probably didn't desaturate it enough. It wasn't really a stylistic choice so much as an objective 'correction' of the color palette in order to say "this is what this game might have looked like if it was made by the exact same team as the first game".

@@CopiousDoinksLLC Stop lying. It does NOT look more like the arcade color palettes, whatsoever. The arcade too had very vivid, beautiful color in it as well.

@@CopiousDoinksLLC Also, quoting what they simply said doesn't prove nor mean anything. Bottom line, less color equals more boredom and less appealing graphics. It's the whole reason why they stopped making black and white tv sets ages ago.

@@HowlingMoonCinemas Nope, you're the one who needs to get their eyes checked, my friend. Either you haven't watched a playthrough of the arcade version lately and you're relying on your faulty memory or you simply couldn't be bothered to pull up a KZbin video and see for yourself. It's not desaturated _enough_ to be like the arcade version. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHXQn2CvfM6ojMUsi=EzuETa5UFwOzusm9 I get that you have very fond memories of the arcade version from when you were a kid. So do I. But you're unequivocally looking at things through rose-tinted glasses if you think this is less colorful than the original arcade game.

@@CopiousDoinksLLC What?? Who do you think you are fooling? You're even showing the proof yourself that indeed Splatterhouse had rich, vivid colors while lying right in everyone's face that it did not. Right off the bat, the title name has bright red (at least this hack version got that right too). The following screen where Rick is about to be resurrected has beautiful, vivid indigo and violet in the background (also in the sky of the intro, where Rick and Jennifer run to the mansion). The contrast between light and dark is excellent, using black and very dark colors in shadowed areas for a lot of the game instead of the constant, lighter, faded, softer dark tones in this version, which gives this hack an unappealing, smokey look, not dark enough (and also diminishes the effect of color contrast). The life hearts in the arcade have bright red. The blood of corpses hanging on the wall have vivid red highlights. Blood that splatters is bright red. The hanged ghouls that come down in the second stage spill out guts that have beautiful emerald green tones. On top of all this, the game had very rich tone gradiations, which also presents much more variation. And then the Genesis sequel really did an excellent job at bringing out both the brighter and darker colors, which was only ruined in this terrible version that you are nonsensically trying to defend. Turn your color up on your monitor to really see everything come alive in the arcade version. But what really brings out the color of the arcade, is the contrast between light and dark that this version totally lacks. For a dark game you need a lot of black and dark tones, or the colors won't pop enough. To me, Spatterhouse looks just as, if not, even more amazing now than it did when I first played it years ago. Absolutely nothing faulty about my memory of it.
