Fun fact: Jennifer wouldn't have been out of the woods if you did save her on stage 1: Stage 2's objective when she's alive is that she's slowly being devoured from the inside by a Boreworm. If she's successfully eaten, she'll become a mindless monster that even Rick wouldn't recognize! A point of advice, if you do play this again: the Boreworm objective must be cleared two minutes _faster_ than the timer claims! Yes, really, the Boreworm objective on stage 2 will already be failed once the countdown hits 2 minutes remaining! IIRC that's the only stage which pulls that mean trick.

Halloween is my fave time time year Erin, and I'm so glad you started your Halloween series with Splatterhouse-3! It's been a fave of mine since my early teens. Here's a tip for the book room and similar rooms: Go to the bottom of the screen and run like hell. The enemies won't hit you as often if your lower on the screen for some reason. And just go around the lamps if they get in your way. Also if you want to shave seconds off your time go through the yellow doors. They're warps! The mansion is your home and it's invaded by monsters that want to kill you and your family to release The Evil One more or less!

The time limit in this game works more for what ending you will get or if certain events happen, for example, if in stage 1 if you barely have time when you beat it, stage 2 works kinda the same way, however if you beat stage 1 way too fast you skip stage 2 because the monster boss of stage 2 will not be able to get Jennifer infected or killed, of course, beating the stages with time to spare helps you to get the best ending, failing to do so, will secure you the worst one.

Some hints at this game. There is a spin kick move that wipes enemies out in 1-2 hits. Hit Left, Right, Attack to perform spin kick. Spin takes about 2 seconds to complete and will wipe out enemies like nothing. You can beat the first stage in around 2 minutes if done properly. Second hint is in rooms with the "anklebiter" enemies, (hands, books, lamps) walk, don't jump. You jump and you get knocked down. Walk forward and go up and down in a zig zag motion. Might take 3 or 4 hits. Finally, save up Eldritch Orbs (the pow orbs) for the boss. Rick has a special move similar to the spin kick only a lot more powerful. Hit left, right, left, right, attack and he will launch out tentacles or something and it will kill most bosses in 4 or so hits. Took me years to figure these things out, and it will make this game actually somewhat easy. Give this game another run with these hints and you will find that it goes from impossible to too easy.

I believe it makes no sense now, given that this video is now 2 and a chunk years old. Nevertheless: On normal Rick form, the strongest attack is the head butt. Approach the enemies diagonally, grab them and smash their faces using your head butt! This is especially useful on some ghosts on advanced levels because they turn invincible if you try and punch them straight. If you grab them, though, they can't escape. On the buffed Rick form, the strongest attack is a pile driver of some sort. Once again you need to grab the enemies first, jump with them and then press down plus attack and Rick will land on the floor, enemy's head first. These are the most time effective way to kill them all. Both forms have special attacks, also. Regular Rick has a spinning attack that also allows to dodge damage temporarily, and will hurt all the enemies around him. On buffed Rick there's is a powered up version that will make him protrude some arm-like appendages from his torso, and it causes more damage.
