i like to aim for the cards with the most victory points ie 5 pt level 3 or 3 pt level 2. ideally going from a level 2 that produces a permanent resource towards the level 3 and then topping it off with a noble. i have noticed that most games end after one noble or 9 permanents so no time for two nobles. i love this game!

My friend and I play this game every week. Our strategy has changed in the way you describe in your comment, but we never pick up a noble card anymore. The game finishes with seven or eight cards usually.

My own strategy thoughts: 1) Reserving cards is not a good "offensive" move. You get only a single token, and it still takes you a full turn to play the card. Reserving can be good as a defensive move, to prevent someone else from getting the last card they need for a lord. 2) Build up your cache of cards quickly. Taking zero point cards here is totally ok. The goal is to limit the turns you need to spend drawing gem tokens by using gem cards instead. 3) Focus on getting cards while spending the fewest tokens and using the most of your gems from cards. Again, zero point cards are ok. Yes, they don't get you any points, but they make getting all future cards that much easier. 4) Don't worry about lords until you have a couple of sets of 2 gem cards, maybe a total of around 8 cards in front of you. 5) Get to sets of 3 gem cards of a color if you can, because a lot of cards have costs of 3 gems of a color, making those cards easier to get for you, plus that's also the threshold for lords. 6) Lords get you 3 points as soon as you play the last gem card needed to "pay" for them, a free action so to speak. However, if you spend several turns drawing gem tokens and reserving cards just to get a particular lord, chances are, someone else will have built up sets of gem cards, where they can just take 2 and 3 point cards every turn for minimal cost or even for free, matching what you gained by getting the lord. 7) If you are 2 gem tokens of a color short, look around and see if you have the time (other players trying to buy that card, enough tokens to draw from) to draw 2 sets of 3 tokens, each draw getting you one token of the color you need, instead of drawing just the 2. You'll end up with an extra token by drawing 2 x 3 tokens vs a set of 2 identical ones and then a set of 3. 8) If you can afford a card with a "difficult" cost, e.g. 5 diamonds, on your turn, look around and see if anyone else is in a position to buy it as well. If not, maybe you can spend the turn working towards another card you're in competition over with another player. You will still have time to buy the original card as soon as someone gets into a position to buy it as well. 9) Choose to focus on a few colors and you might score a lord early on, but you might get stuck, because your gems don't buy you any further cards for a turn or two. 10) Diversify your gem cards and you might be too late to get a particular lord, but chances are, there will always be a card you can buy. 11) Be lucky. And have fun regardless. Sometimes, the cards getting drawn will be all wrong for you and you will be stuck for a turn or three.

On the strategy to avoid cards with no points, how do you collect enough gems? Just focus on a single card? Seems that other players can easily block that.

Would it be bad strategy to reserve a card your first 3 turns, then build up gems, then buy your reserves, and do it all over again?

Hello Can you please say the rate of the actual game splendor Is it 7000 or 4000
@johnburgelin6 жыл бұрын
My strategy for splendor is to eat up the cheapest low level cards so that later in the game you can purchase higher cards for less "gems" in hand. Additionally to focus on gathering cards that have Nobel reqs. It's a two part strategy that works quite well. Usually you can finish off a game in a couple turns gathering both cards and nobles.

Thanks for the video. The camera is too far from the cards so numbers are difficult to see on a mobile

What happens if it goes over 15 prestige points? Do you still win, or do you need exactly 15 points to win?
@VictoryPointCoalition2 жыл бұрын
Great question. No need to get 15 points exactly. You can go over as much as you like.

I love Splendor! I just have a hard time keeping track of what other players are doing, thereby often having my strategies thwarted :'(

I know exactly where you are coming from! It's difficult enough to keep my own strategy on par, let alone keep track of the competition's plans.

Lords are the way to go, as long as you buff your resources in the beginning

The strategy that my mum and I use is to get as many level one cards as we can so we can get the Lord's easier

You're a noble short mate. Makes a huge difference having the required 5 out as opposed to just the 4. Good video otherwise
