They need to bring back the good ol' 2v2 Spies vs Mercs. In Blacklist the Spies have way too much power. It used to be that spies were afraid of Mercs, while in this game the Mercs are afraid of Spies.

In this you CAN hide bodies. I've seen more recent gameplay and at some point after zip lining, Sam knocked out a guard and hid his body in the dumpster. Also there's a feature where you can distract guards, you use the Kinect mic to make noise and distract the guard. In BL they want you to decide whether you have to move slowly through a building or whether you speed through it. Also there is a perfectionist difficulty where you cannot be seen or mission failed.

Ubisoft is already in the process of writing the storyline for a game after blacklist. It is said to take place six years after the events of the blacklist. Sam is retired and is the mentore of a new young splinter cell (rumored to be the younger brother of agent Archer) Apparently it is going to be released in spring 2015.

Never played the older games, but I feel like I've really been missing out. I've never been so excited about the multiplayer in a stealth game, but this looks really awesome! I hope that the actual game lives up to all the talk.

They need to remaster this to the next gen and possibly kickstart another wave of SvM. I loved this game but with the old systems dying recently id pay anything to have some of the better games like this kept up to date!

Yup, and when she was describing blacklist mode she said that "here spies DO have lethal weapons" implying that classic does not. Either way there are a bunch of other videos out there talking about it too. I seriously think that mode is going to play out really stealthy like back in Pandora days :)

I like you Nooky, you get this whole "understanding opinions" thing. I played Chaos theory and its my fav, never played conviction, and yet I think the new "classic mode" is close enough. Not as hardcore, but I still like it. I prefer the older "hardcore" stealth feel, but newer is not always bad!

I've already pre-ordered this game just for the spies vs mercs hopefully when they make the next SC on next gen consoles they will dedicate like 30% just on the multiplayer. (more maps and game modes)

True that. It'll be interesting to see what comes about. When I played PT/CT vs mode we tweaked the game for our own benefit (spies not having lethal drop, mercs not getting mines, things like that.) I'm hoping customization options for custom games will return, DA vs mode didn't and it really killed it for me.

That's because the darkness in blacklist mode isn't as dark as you think and it only makes it difficult to see the spies, not impossible. Once you're used to it, you'll be able to spot the spies too. Classic is different though, because the spies are COMPLETELY hidden in the dark and you NEED the flashlight to see them.

I loved being Merc in Chaos Theory. Obviously spy is fun but Mercs got to do awesome brutal melee kills, and the 360 spin-melee was awesome, I hope that returns (though it probably won't from what we've seen in this video).

Well to prevent dying from the front via spy, the merc has that "Charge" where if they hit the spy they grab and kill them, preventing the quick kill of the spy.

I've never played a previous splinter cell game, but I briefly know about the modes and single player of the games. You see, while most people were privileged enough to play the game, I was stuck at home with a GameCube and an old computer that was always being used. I never had much time to know about the game until 5 years ago when a got a PS3. You could almost say I was sitting under a rock.

I'm trying to figure out whether classic mode (being a veteran player myself) will include the old spies grabbing mercs from behind and either stabbing or snapping their necks. I reckon the blacklist mode should include the campaign based skills but I also think classic should really contrast away from the blacklist mode, by taking away the one button hit aerial executions and quick kills from the front, it just makes it to easy otherwise .

Chess is a Strategy games, while Blacklist and CoD are both Military shooter at close combat, so they are pretty similiar, not complety but a little bit so you can compare them.

pre-ordering for sure. looks awesome. and the 1st person melee movements look legit. nice. the only thing I'd like to see is if the ledge you grab the merc from is too small of a drop, the spy would follow up with one of these attacks. a) jumping on the throat. b) taking out the knife and bringing it down on the merc as the spy fell. that would be cool.

if you really pay attention, a spy never knifes a merc from directly in front of them. they are clearly above, behind, or to the side of the merc. Even in what seems like a direct confrontation, the spy works his way around to the side. Just look at 6:00, when the spy gets the kill, he isnt in front of the merc, he is to the mercs right, and out of the line of fire. Im a big fan of the series, and am personally beyond excited for these changes. a trained spy is able to do more than snap a neck.

I preordered the paladin edition without really knowing what it was. I thought $180 was steep for a CE but I didn't care. After learning what it was I just got the regular edition as it already comes with echelon pack. So pumped for this 2v2 mode, been waiting for another one since chaos theory.

4v4 probably suits the map sizing. A good map for 6v6 would be Plaza from Pandora Tomorrow because that map was ridiculously huge :S

Yeah you did and that part was cool because it made you pause and analyze, but the mercs always felt overpowered so at the end of the day after they lobbed a grenade at you when you had just made your escape it made the experience aggravating, Blacklist looks to make the spies at least a bit more formidable in combat, unlike DA where the tut tells you to run from the mercs as a spy

My number one biggest beef with this is the guided "death from above" action that the spies have. And I'm afriad that spies will be able to jam on the melee button to chain kill mercs like no tomorrow. As far as the mercs and how they operate more like a traditional FPS, I'm glad about that and actually see that as an improvement. I like how smooth it looks to play as them. It felt awkward in the previous games just trying to aim as a merc. Maybe that alone will provide balance.

Thanks for the support, didn't know I'd get flamed for sharing my thoughts :P These kids were born with CoD / Gears of War in their hands so yes, they don't know what they're talking about. It's sorta like music, I don't listen to mainstream music at all, I like classic and progressive rock. Splinter Cell has gone from a focused audience to a wider mainstream approach. The so called classic style is still no close to the original SvM, I will play and enjoy it, but it wont be how i envisioned it.

Again, someone else who obviously didn't pay attention to the video. There is a CLASSIC mode, just because the video barely showed it doesn't mean its not there. Most of the game play we saw was from the new blacklist mode which the spies do have lethal weapons and the environment it brighter. He did say that in CLASSIC mode the spies won't have lethal weapons and the environment has been tweaked and made darker for stealth. Sounds like old school CT and PT to me.

Mercs were near unstoppable in Double Agent because they were overpowered in Double Agent with their Presence Sensor and the ability to wallhug and camp without any penalties.

Not necessarily, in classic mode I believe they aren't allowed to use knives, after all they said only in blacklist mode they have access to nonlethal weapons, classic mode will hopefully be exactly the same as chaos theory ^^

Like everybody else, I always wanted to be the spy, but I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to being a Merc in this one. I loved the part when the Merc gives the spy a four piece, haha! And when he claps his ears then breaks his neck :p The game looks great and I can't wait for it to come out. I just hope the Campaign is decent as well. I was disappointed when I found out Michael Ironside wasn't going to voice Sam Fisher in this one. Anyway, I hope it's as good as I expect!

the guns are optional, you actually only use them to destroy the cameras, Drones and lights, no one shoots with a pistol or UMP against a heavy armored Mercenary who has more armor , more hp and a heavier gun has than you.

You should respect Splinter Cell as a franchise and enjoy the benefits of both Spy and Merc. When you're a merc you're not going around shooting other mercs.. you're hunting down quick spies (which don't just spray back at you)

It's nothing like cod it's just how good you are depending on reflex realization and choices spies and mercs can just both walk upon each other and do a Melee but it depends on who launches the attack first

I agree with what people are saying, spies seem to be able to kill mercs way too easy now that they can slit their throats from in front. In chaos theory, having to kill a merc from behind made it super tense and satisfying when you finally got to break their neck.. A damn shame that's gone, may prove to be a mistake on Ubisofts part.

Classic mode for sure because you can take your time as a spy and there will always be the tension between the spy and merc. Blacklist mode looks like call of duty and seems like everyone is just running around trying to go for kills.

that's the problem they shouldn't have changed it so much from chaos theory. to hack you should have to stand at the terminal or plant modems (sabotage mode). i'm not allergic to change, this just doesn't seem as good.
