The first two Split Enz albums are the best (but I like all of them).

I'm reading a book with a character called Emlyn and every time I see it an Enz song runs through my head. :)

timeless. still seems light years ahead, musically, of that time and today.

It took quite a while before they were received well in New Zealand. They were considered a bit too "avant garde" at first. Brilliant, none the less.

I agree, people were still digesting Alistair Riddell at the time.

Pure genius!! The entire Mental Notes album is amazing!! What I want to know is how many versions of the album are there? I have heard two very different versions.
@coldacre8 жыл бұрын
there's really only one version; the debut album released in 1975. the second album was titled "Second Thoughts", recorded the following year. the international version of "Second Thoughts" was retitled "Mental Notes".

Coldacre-there are actually three versions. The debut album released in Europe. THat version is on KZbin listed under the full album. There is a very different version with a few different songs on the US version, and there is the Second Thoughts album.

Love it, so ahead of the 70s like Monty Python on acid. After the Jethro Tull soundalike phase.
