Fabulous, a lovely skilled repair....I reckon most folk would have been unaware the uppers were repairable. Nice start to my Sunday watching that 😎 Thank you 🎩

Thanks Seamus, tried an early one today 🙏

Good repair, crazy that folk don't think to look after the uppers.

You certainly rescued them Trickers. I was a life long polish fan,only recently converted to shoe cream. You have to nourish that leather 👍👍👍

@@adrianevans9575 Yes. I think you are right. I used to polish and shine and now I own two pairs of 25+ years old Church’s with cracks and bad uppers.

Another good repair. The new soles look amazing. Looks like maybe drying the boots too close to a radiator. Glad you’ve been able to bring them back to life. All the best Pete 👍

Great video that educates us about new commando soles and about nourishing leather. Also first time I've seen a video about how split leather is treated/repaired. . Just bee-yu-ti-full.

Just goes to show how important nourishing the leather is. Even great quality Tricker's leather dries out and cracks if it's not given some appropriate TLC. Lovely repair to keep those expensive boots going for quite a bit longer!

I've a lot of footwear so am not wearing the same ones very often so I only use a conditioner perhaps once a year. Otherwise, if it's dressy enough to have a shine, I use cream for the scuffs and polish to protect the upper and reduce the scuffs in the first place. Regarding renovateur, for the leather furniture and car seat market Avel (the parent company of Saphir) do large 250ml jars of renovator (using the English spelling) that they sell at similar prices as the 75ml jars they sell to the shoe market. It comes in neutral and a number of colours. I've tried it and it is basically the same product as renovateur except I think they put a little more wax in it as it's intended as a one application solution. It even smells the same as the Saphir version.

Well done.....we have got to look into this. 👍

Looks great. Grew up only knowing they needed a bit of polish. Only recently discovered they need conditioner. Wonder if these had been getting wet and then dried under a radiator.

Looking at that split makes me suspect those boots were made with Bookbinder leather.
@dschaen81Ай бұрын
I was wondering about that as well. I recently had to get rid of a pair of shoes (not Tricker's) with a heavily corrected / coated type of leather because the top coat started flaking off like no tomorrow! I hadn't even worn out the factory Dainite soles!
@shoehealer8853Ай бұрын
This was calf leather for sure, but either not the best or badly abused. Whole boot wasn't good.
@spenceramaАй бұрын
Whilst looking after the uppers and nourishing them is important, do you Antony and Co find the Trickers leather to be of better quality than the likes of Crockett Jones and Cheaney? Or the same quality?
@shoehealer885325 күн бұрын
It's probably the same Spencerama, at this level they are all using the best leathers available. Now leather is a natural product so occasionally we get a few problems, just as you might expect. I wish I could post little videos in this section because I have a great one on a church's shoe which has poor leather.

Really nice job done. At what age of the shoe do you recommend using renovator cream etc for the first time? And then how often between applications? Cheers, Martin.

If you Google it you will get 10 different answers and products to any shoe polishing question. You just need to find a regime that suits you and how often you wear your shoes and how shiny you want them. You could use Renovateur on day 1 of a shoe as you don’t know how long they have been sat for, you will find a small amount of Renovateur and a brush and they will come up lovely. I guess once a month tops with the Renovateur if you wore regular 🤔 if you had a year old shoe with scuffs and caked on polish that’s gone white at the creases you would need to start from scratch strip it off and do renomat/renovateur/1925 cream/polish The Renovateur supposedly opens up the pores to allow cream to penetrate better. (All this for normal calf leather)
@@shoehealer8853 I can't answer for the original commenter, but the commando heel on my derbies tracks gravel like nothing else! I'd love a Dainite heel myself
