We split mostly spruce where I'm from . Stringy easy wood to split so sharp splitters goes along way .

Good vid! I reckon that maul youve got there would go pretty well down here. My main splitter (and prob the most popular style down here forever ) has always been a 6lb stubby Cyclone splitter. Teamed up with a sharp chunky axe for interlocking grain, fiborous wood.

@kurts64 that maul was 8lbs. Now it's a more manageable 6.75lbs. I'll do some more of these videos of different profiles. Profile is everything. I forgot to say profile over pattern! Haha next time.

Been using a 6lb maul for decades, still do on large rounds my Fiskars X27 does the rest 😊
