So many people today have no idea how much fun it is to split wood and heat your house wood it’s so much better than propane or fuel oil. It is so rewarding. The smell is amazing.

Buckin I want you to know that you got me inspired to do tree work and work with power saws and I didn’t have anybody to teach me so I learned from you. I watched so many of your videos to learn about how to fall trees and how they work in all different scenarios and I’ve actually been making a living on a power saw like you did and I’m so happy doing it. I’m glad that you do what you do Buckin thank you

Hello Buckin, I only recently came across your channel. I have watched a lot of your videos in the last few weeks and months and have learned a lot. I have worked with smaller chainsaws, often electric saws, for tree care from time to time. Since I have now bought a house and would like to heat more with wood, I have now bought a Stihl chainsaw. I have also bought a kinematic log splitter. Since I have an office job, I want to make up for the firewood in the winter by buying firewood that has already been split and ready. It is also cheaper. Since I live in Germany and Stihl dealers and workshops are very readily available here, the choice was easy for me. I decided on the Stihl MS 500i. I actually wanted to buy the chainsaw with a 20" bar. Thanks to you, I have learned that working with longer bars is much easier and more comfortable. The saw has now been ordered with a 28" bar. If I can handle it well, I also intend to get the 32" bar. Your channel is a privilege for everyone who works and wants to work with wood and chainsaws. It doesn't matter whether you're a professional or a beginner. You are a great person and have a good character. I wanted to thank you for everything and I'm glad I came across your channel. Many greetings from Germany and stay as you are. 😊👍

Glad you are healthy again Buckin. I have over 50 cubic metres of ash split and stacked so far this year, over here in the uk. All cut with a ported 266 (thanks for the tips TInman!) and split with my own short handled heavy axe. Used to use a much longer one but love this way of splitting now - im quicker and more mobile with a short handle. Would love me a buckin special some day though...

Love the idea of you moving some axes again! Now that you've taught all of us so much about profile, it's hard not to feel silly every time the axe gets stuck. I have a few beauty vintage heads that I rescued out of a burnt out shed after a forest fire, but they're definitely more of a chopping profile than a splitting one.

I have a Fiscars. I know its not exactly the best out there , but i bought it not knowing much about axes in general. It weighs about 6 lbs altogether with 28 inch handle. Don't know if that's considered light or heavy for axes but feels heavy to me like I'm trying to swing a telephone pole lol. I guess one good thing it doesnt rattle my hands. I just need more practice. That wood bullet looks good from Hoffman though. Don't know if i should spend that much especially since I'm a novice. Hate to bust a nice axe like that. Btw, Hey to Tory👍

I don't understand axe handle length. Sometimes I believe it is more about the mood I'm in than anything else. I like a 28" for a straight handle and 36" in a traditional axe handle. I've wondered about a traditional axe handle shape on a splitting maul...I dunno....but I see all that cut wood there and have this odd desire to jump in and start splitting! It is sick!

@BuckinBillyRaySmith I think that's where I saw it and got the idea! Love that guy! I have an oregon 6lb maul with a busted fiberglass handle (freebie). It actually works pretty well. The eye is tiny and round. I'm thinking I may be able to mill it out to fit a curved handle. I guess it needs some taper in there to hang, though. Not a problem, just part of the fun.
