If I remember correctly, a German company bought a Swedish manufacturer of mason tools, they are named Rebit and are really high quality tools, expensive but they are worth it.

Well a Chipper or a Hand set would be better 😀 but I get the point. I’m surprised by how far a chip can travel. I’ve found them pretty far away.

How you determine when to use tracer/chisel or hammer ("Stone Buster") after initially scoring?
@workingstoned
@workingstoned 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t have a definite answer. It’s mostly personal preference. Sometimes it’s easier with a stone buster on a bigger stone when I feel the need hit a little bit harder, because it’s safer having some distance from your hand in case you miss and hit your hand. But you can split really big stones with a hand tracer to. My favorite is actually a hand tracer 👍

@@n.gawlinski7338 If you are based in the US I would recommend “Throw & Holden” they do ship internally, but If you are Euro I would take a look at rockandtool.com Great customer support and great products. if you ever get a hand on “Rebit” tools buy them, great Swedish steel and carbide 👍

I’m collecting stones for a few projects, mostly for a dry stone wall.

@@workingstoned ohh i hope you post it i would really love seeing video of a dry stone wall built. most on youtube are only 5 or 10 mins long & that is way too short to bother watching. hope to see them.

Is that a small bucket of dirt or sand you're using? Just to raise it up higher?
@workingstoned
@workingstoned 3 жыл бұрын
Yes! It’s a bigger mortar bucket, in the bottom I drilled holes for drainage then added a layer of peppbles and leca then added sand. It’s easier to place the stone in sand and rotate and move it as you work.

@@workingstoned I reclaimed 2 dozen large granite stones from a home next door that was demolished years ago and the land had gone neglicated. Some had come by over the years to take a few, but I shamlessly went out there and dug up as much as I could, and used pulleys, ramps and crowbars to get them onto my property. I got what I think are just cold chisels, but they seem to do a decent job, maybe takes me 2-4 times as long to split a rock, but I'm looking to by a nice Hand Tracer. It've found it surprising satifsying and calming at the least. And i've started to notice a lot of granite around my city (Halifax) and even found a few very large rounded stones on my parents property I plan to chop up when I get my new tool. Love the channel. Keep it simple

Wow! Sounds amazing. The reason I like my carbide tools is it seems to have a greater impact on the stone, but my favorite tool is an old masons hammer, no carbide and works just as well as carbide tipped tools. But I would recommend investing in a hand tracer, you can break big stones with a tracer 👍 Have a look on eBay, you can find som nice bargains. Thanks for your comments and question
