Taking some huge oak rounds (24 inches plus) and splitting them with my Countyline log splitter.

I don't know what it is about splitting logs that fascinates me so much that I could watch these every day. I want an Outdoor wood boiler and a log splitter so bad it's crazy.

It sounds like the engine RPMs aren’t all the way up?

Will never buy one - it's too heavy and expensive for me, but enjoying to watch how it effortlessly splits such big rounds. I'm guessing that 20 tons would do it too? Any ideas about it?

I've used lesser splitters, and they all have trouble with cross grained oak. This one cuts right through if the round doesn't want to split. The lighter ones I've used really strain at it, and I worry that the extra strain is going to mean excessive wear on the splitter.

Why does everyone split the wood so small

In my case, never sure how big the customer's fire box will be. Some have these tiny little wood stoves that big pieces won't work in. And really, I kind of mix it up. I may be able to sell this this year, so smaller pieces also dry faster.

This splitter forces you into a lot of breaking wrestling and lifting that would be eliminated with the Axis vertical system. I would rather roll a 200# round than lift one at 100#. The less hands on the wood the better. There is way too much wrestling going o on here.
