Guy, I'm glad you laid it out there regarding your approach to color, technique and customer satisfaction. You are not only an extremely creative and capable artist, but have excellent people skills and can meet your clients where they're coming from. In other words, you have excellent EQ (emotional quotient - as well as IQ also). The problem with hair stylists, and people in general, is that they are not able to see things from the other person's perspective and let go of their ego. And of course those are the people who criticize and write nasty and rude comments. I think it's mostly because they're jealous of your talent. So you just keep being you, 'cause that's what makes you an awesome hairstylist and such a genuine person. You are an A+ in every way! 💛

I have been dabbling with your color line since it came out. I am obsessed. This color correction tutorial in it's self has so many treasures that Cosmetologists need to pay attention to. I would watch it again tonight if it wasn't 1 am. I love this video so much. This is exactly why I spend the time I do with my clients. This is why guy tang is the most popular hair stylist online influencer. He knows his SHIT!!! As a color correctionist myself... ok... all these steps and all these colors is WHY it costs so much more to correct what many do at home. I charge 75 an hour for color correction... but I only charge 50 for 5/8 inch root touch, big difference huh!!! And guy, your big 9 is great! Love you, keep it moving. Don't focus on the "stereotypical"(cuz we don't do stereotypes lol) haters who have no idea what they are talking about! It's still surprising to me, even after 17 years doing hair... that many people still don't realize that we go to school. Studying things from chemistry to art theory... and that we have to have licenses issued in our respective states. Keep up with the great artwork. Hair is love! And I love watching your energy and your results.

Amazing job and I’m really pleased to see you stress the importance of ultimately going with what the client wants. I’ve had quite a few negative experiences where stylists do something I didn’t want as they thought it was best. For example recently I wanted highlights and because highlights aren’t as trendy and there’s less inspirations pics I could find of the colour I wanted I had to show pics of balayage and point out that’s the tone of blonde I’m aiming for but not the look of balayage. Then at the end coming out with a root fade (applied with toner) and ending up looking almost the same as when I came in 5 hours before because of it - that and the bleach not being left on long enough

I’m a colorist and it’s soooo important to listen to the client and btw a color correction requires ALL the steps... or the client will not be happy with the result... why not do it right and they will be getting many compliments on their beautiful hair! Don’t listen to the haters, Guy. I take a long time with my clients too. I’ve been criticized for it by other stylists, but my peeps really appreciate it and come back to become lifelong clients. I have found, also, that people are willing to pay for that extra time, so you really can make up the difference when it comes to profits. I just make sure to communicate how much time a session will take upon scheduling.
