The Mr GOAT list is pretty easy. Sam, Dean, Bobby, Castiel, Crowley & Lucifer. Take away any of those characters has a MAJOR effect on what the show was. All the rest, whilst important to varying degrees, you could lose and not affect the shows trajectory. The list does not necessarily reflect favourites, but just who was vital.

If the show had ended in S5, so many of these characters we love would never have gotten time to shine or even to exist. S1-S5 was very tightly written and focused and full of lovely moments, but, imo, there is so much to love about what later seasons brought, as well. Some beautiful character work, great storylines and one-off episodes, and memorable moments. I'm glad for the very long journey with all these idjits.

Season 4/5 Cas is THE goat.They just had to go and ruin his character. SPN is great but also exhausting with the wasted potential all the way through. Characters, storylines,whole seasons..

John never knew Mary was a hunter. She didn't want them to grow up in the life that's why she made the deal and left it all behind. John became obsessed with avenging his wife then he turns to hunting finding the life. He didn't know Mary was a hunter til that time warping episode where John and Mary are both back

I have to do top 5 cause i can't leave out the Queen, so my favs is 100% Dean, Cas, Crowley, Sam and Rowena. Also you having Lucifer above Cas just doesn't sit right with me.

I'm glad I stopped at Amelia then. Because Lucifer in later seasons was severly weakened and over used. I can't take Jeremy seriously that he ranks Lucifer above Cas. Really?!

​@@huchlvr Lucifer is a great character/villain all round, but above Cas, Charlie, Rowena and even Jack is insanity!!! and Amelia was Sam's worst love interest, i couldn't stand her, but for some reason he put nearly every romantic partner in the A/B category, which is weird considering half of them have no relevancy other than being the girlfriend at some point.

Sam Smith Mary was an A, Meg Donnelly Mary in The Winchesters is pure S tier. Every character is peak in that series. Especially the main 4.

No bias, Dean & Sam are the main characters and should be ranked together and they sure as hell of deserve more! I hate the myth that the first half was all about Sam, it wasn't but it does highlight a problem in latter seasons. Both brothers had a shared arc (the main plot) and their own arcs and centric episodes each season. Even season one. Both brothers arc were important to the seasons main story. In season 2 yes it was about Sam's fear of turning dark and the mystery of what that meant, but before that we had Dean dealing with the grief of John. and while the last episode were focused on Sam, it was Dean who killed the big bad of two seasons Azreal, plus again there were plenty of centric episodes between them. The problem accrued in season 9 & 12, There it was all about Dean, Sam really didn't have an arc, more like one episode of him kicking Gadreel out and one where he went on a solo hunt. But Dean was more apart of the main plot and delt with the main threats and had way more centric episodes. Season 10 was about mainly about Dean but Sam had an arc trying to save him and their relationship grew and while Dean was more connected to the main plot of Seasons 11 Sam still had his own arc at the start and something to do. But than from 12 to 15 Sam lacked a personal arc and when he did get one it felt choppy, plus he got less and less centric episodes. As for Dean like JerBear said he had more character and layers and his centric episodes were some of the best like "Regarding Dean" also Dean was the funnier one of the two. All the comedy episode are either something supernaturally humorous happening to both brothers or just to Dean. But this is also a double edge sword for Dean, because Dean was more personally involved in the main plot the writers kept having to regress his character every time to make it more challenging for him. Dean has had growth, the problem is they backtrack on it. in Season 11 Dean confesses a secret he'd been keeping from Sam and in the next season when Sam confesses a major secret Dean doesn't get angry or lash out at him like he would've done in an earlier season. But then there are seasons like 14 & 15 that regress him to a guy ruled by anger and secrets, which he had more than overcome. With Sam yeah he did have great arcs at the start but they seemed to stop challenging him hence why they kept bringing back Lucifer to make Sam's past arcs feel relevant, which was another issue with Sam he never really had a rivalry with any other villain in this show after Lucifer, now yes its hard to beat that kind of feud but we never got a character on the same level as Gordon Walker, most of the villains seemed to have more hatred to Dean or at least more screentime with him. I know some people say the show should've ended after five but I'm glad it continued, there was a lot of fun and good things in the other seasons, its just the last two failed to stick the landing.

A vet that shames a good Samaritan into taking a dog that's not his.. trash. I can't tell who that is between Ketch and Pergatory mom. Gordon Walker..a name you spaced. Hendrix is the one that mimicked Denzel. I'm putting Sarah Blake in A. My only issue with Lisa is that I knew the actress as Angie from another series first.. and Angie was a much stronger character. a lead character. Metadouchatron.. solid trash in my book. Push a blade into Dean's chest, up close and personal.. shit list forever. I think of Jody more like a big sister than a mom since in the spn wiki, she's only 3 years older than Dean.. Born 1976. With all those Stines in the mix.. lesser characters, you didn't have Rick Springfield's Lucifer in the game.. *pout* He was in more episodes than the Stines. I like Mary too.. she just didn't have the air time that some of other favorites did.. same with John. There's one more important character that even had a dedicated episode name that we missed.. Baby! "Baby is not a prop" ..Jensen quote. Speaking of John, for a one season show.. try The Winchesters. It's got a scene stealing actor... Hold the phone.. in which world of the multiverse did Mary tell John she was a hunter and she didn't want her boys growing up in the life? It wasn't this one. In this one, John didn't know she was a hunter. I agree with your Mt Rushmore. It's pushing 2AM now.. I have to get up at 5.. should have waited until tomorrow to do this.. but it's Supernatural...no waiting.

Yeah John Winchester is the hardest character to rank. Its so easy just to hate the man, and the writers seemed to jsut bury the guy as the show went on. But there are factors to look into him as a whole.

I agree that John is an S Tier character - and it's not because he's a good person. He's one of the most interesting and best written characters of the show. And what's more is that most of his characterization comes from stories ABOUT him and not actually from him being on screen. He's one of the most explored characters on the show and I think that's what makes him such a good character. Obviously JDM acting as him sways people a lot, there are other characters in other things that I would compare it to but it tends to get a little heated lol But I agree, he loved his children as much as he was able to, but his trauma (with Mary, with him thinking his father abandoned him, you assume he has trauma from being a Marine as well) just did not bring out the best in him The other thing with this show when ranking characters is that because it went on for such a long time, the fans have created versions of characters outside the show in fics and things that if you've been part of the fandom for long enough, it can be different to separate the character from fanon (Teen Wolf is the same)
