So I just had to make another Shappel video with all the new shappel clips we are getting now from s2. I had some ideas but I settled on this song. I felt like it captured the denial very well in this relationship. They want each other but they deny it.

The 'silent restraint' lyric I felt really described Spock, how he holds back. And "How can I stay? Not that I want you" SO super denial! I even wanted to put the lyrics, but decided against it this time. I did not put over lays/coloring/fx since the song was so simple I just decided to keep it simple.

After the latest episode broke me I came back here for therapie. Your video captures perfectly theire feelings for each other and the resulting emotions they are forced to navigate through. Now I can pretend again that episode 9 never happend and that there is still hope for both of them

The previous episode, they showed signs that this is not going end well. I still don't understand why Christine act like this. She was upset about klingon ambassador but all her rage turned on Spock. I mean, why? All he doing was trying to help her. And ep9, why she broke up, this fellowship is only for 3 months. And it's on Vulcan. Also, why did't she communicate with Spock after ep8? Why did she choose not to informe Spock about fellowship in ep9. She is the one fall in love and go after him but now she acts like it is not an affair, it was only a one night stand. She is so mean. I think all these are lazy writing. There is many contiunity problems in events and characters. This is a big problem and spoils the pleasure of watching.

​@dersuuzala6284 Hey, I believe Episodes 6 and 7 of Season 2 have a say in it too... Spock recognized her change in spirit when he'd ask her to make their relationship serious by telling the rest of the USS Enterprise. Then, the next Episode during the LDS Crossover, Boimler spoiled their Future because he was worried about them not working anyway. Knowing their future was doomed honestly broke Nurse Chapel's heart, because she was slowly falling in love with Spock in early Season 2, especially after his official divorce with T'Pring. Lastly, whenever you watch TOS again, 10 years later in Star Trek's Prime Timeline, you might notice Christine trying to get back with Spock after the Fellowship, because she had grown up to realize she broke his heart. Now with SNW's Episode 9 Season 2, it all makes sense why TOS Spock was so cold, emotionally unavailable, and heartbroken because he's... Moved on already. Props to the writers of SNW. Gene would be proud honestly!

Spock was nothing but a supportive boyfriend. He did nothing to deserve this. I don't know much about TOS. Maybe they try to show why Spock so cold as you say. But it is not good caracterization and what they built in one and a half season. They got together after a long way through but they didn't show what their affair really like. We don't even know how long they 've been together. They started in ep5, got apart in ep8 and broke up in ep9. It's a month or not? We don't know and we only guess or assume about it.There is too much empty space to fill with guessing. And why Chapel acting like she gone for good. It's a 3 months fellowship. And why she wants to keep secret their affair? It's because that her avoid serious relationships or another reason? We saw that except Cpt.Pike, everyone knows that they are beyond colleagues or at least guessing about it. I mean, where is the secret 😂 Maybe we will see soon Captan himself knows about it too. All I'm asking is consistency, clearness and good caracterization. And all I'm seeing is that writers don't have long term plan. They just do whatever they want.

Good video. The lyrics were hard to understand at times and I had to look them up on google (no lyric video on yt). I think Chapel would be open to a relationship with Spock. She seems to me to be the type to jump in and then regret it later. The song fits Spock better.

Thank you, yes I was tempted to put text in the video, but I decided against it to keep to the simplicity of the song. The lyrics are fairly repetitive. This band has male and female singer and so I just put the male parts for Spock and the female parts for Chapel. Also just curious, I wanted to know your opinion of the show. Now that you have watched the first season and the first ep of s2. You did comment on how they are breaking cannon. I love TOS but I feel like it needs updating. And I feel like, yes cannon is broken but imo it can be explained away by all the time travel that happened in the TOS timeline with the original cast. As to why this prequel is so different.

@@taylorwaterman7316 Possible spoilers warning.... . . . . . . . . . . . . I liked first season. I liked how they expanded on Spock (long time TOS Spock fan here) dealing with his human side. I liked his dream that he was human fighting the Vulcan Spock. I liked how he reacted to Hemmer's death and opened up to Chapel and accepted her comforting him. But I do think the second season premiere episode that I saw here on YT has Spock being a bit too openly emotional. But perhaps there will be some explanation for that later. The changes to canon in first season were not major dealbreakers for me (although the Gorn smack too much of the Aliens movie monsters; I have to wonder how beings who hatch and immediately start hunting ever evolved a space faring culture in the first place.) I would have liked to have seen less females in the major roles. First season SNW smacks of the original series, although TOS is still my favorite (I could never get into any of the various ST series that came afterwards). Anyway I enjoyed watching SNW's first season. I haven't seen any more of second season beyond ep 1, but some of the clips I've seen makes me wonder if it will be as interesting. I may decide to pay to watch it and see. I know from a YT video that the third ep has a *MAJOR* TOS canon mistake that impacts the whole history of the ST universe and isn't something to be glossed over (which is sad, because now SNW has to be AU). I'm not sure what you mean about canon breaking being able to be explained away by TOS time travel.

@@taylorwaterman7316 After not being that impressed with TNG (except for a few eps), DS9, or Voyager, I don't think I even watched Enterprise (even though I love Scott Bakula in Quantum Leap). And I guess I should clarify that I have not watched any of the ST incarnations that have aired on Paramount. I have read and heard criticism of Discovery and Picard and there is probably some other incarnation I'm forgetting. As to women, I'm not against there being more women in major roles. I just think they went too far in that direction. (And I think the way the women characters are written, they could just as easily be men.) I have heard that the next engineer will be a woman. That's overkill imo. Particularly since we hear a man with a Scottish accent helping Spock in one ep. Mr. Scott perhaps? It would be interesting to see a younger Scott on SNW.

@@nitelvr Yes I did not really like TNG. I liked Data tho. But I feel like Picard did not even want to be on the ship. He'd say "make it so" he'd tell ppl to "shut up", lol. But Kirk was so hands on. Also felt insulted a bit that Data was Spock replacement. After Spock would say "I am not a machine, I am a man." Etc. Bret Spiner is a great actor, no offence. But I could not really get into TNG. I gave ST Enterprise a chance and was pleasantly surprised. Mostly as something to watch cuz we gotta wait a whole year for another season of SNW! Yes in the reviews of Discovery it got a lot of hate. And just seeing some clips of Spock in STD, I just could not watch it. They got TOO crazy, it was just unbelievable at that point. I agree the whole bridge is women except for a random guy, and of course Pike and Spock. I feel like the bridge being 50/50 would be ok women/men.

Oh that was some behind the scenes footage from 'The Ready Room' with every ep they do extras like interview the main actors in that ep. And they were interviewing Jess and while she was talking about shappel they showed that clip. The clip is originally from 1x5 but it's from another angle.

@@dersuuzala6284 Yes if you go on social media of the actors and though ready room interviews there is a lot of behind the scenes clips/photos. Yes they are probably saving deleted scenes for the dvd/bluray/4k/8k/etc release. Just like they did with s1. And apparently there was a lot of takes not used in the scene where Spock get's angry at Kirk's bro. LOL
