That last note was sheer dragon breath. He literally drove head first into the depths of Kahzad Dun and called forth the soul of the mountain.

This arrangement is by far, the most emotional one for me. I loved many of the others but for some reason, this one hits me deep. Ive always been impressed by Geoff, but this time he has created a masterpiece. Thank you for your reaction. Edit: For many people this song is almost like an anthem. We grew up with the books, with the movies, and this song/story is one that we all relate to. Its a song of loss and sadness. Geoff sings this like i imagine the characters would, not a performance, but a telling of a memory. The driving percussion and strings give me the impression of both people mining, but also of a procession of refugees fleeing the horrors of Smaug. This song brings the emotion of hopeless sadness, fear, and yet, the strength to recover.

Having heard him reading Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven and Tell-Tale Heart the other day I realize how much Geoff submerges himself in it and likely just as much a big Tolkien & Poe Geek is as many of us.

Man, I'm at the point where when I see a new Geoff video come out, I've got that kind of funny mix of excitement and dread XD Just that overall sense that my heart isn't going to be able to take the powerful bass that I'm about to hear XD Like, no joke, my first thought when I saw his cover of Country Roads was "Dang it, Geoff, that's not fair..." At the end of the day, this is Geoff's world, and we're all just living in it XD

I think you may have done a Peter Hollens video or two before, but did you know that Peter Hollens did an entire Hobbit/Lord Of The Rings cover album? You should react to his covers or 'I See Fire', 'Hobbit Drinking Medley' and 'Song Of The Lonely Mountain'. The others are great too but those 3 are my favorites.

OK, in My Mother Told Me, you said you wished they’d braid his hair and here you go! We get the dwarvish ‘do on the left and go from there. And then, vocally, he’s literally singing from the caverns of Smaug. Gorgeous. (But no tattoos of guys. Jus saying, bad idea.) And hey, if you love deep voices, next time you’re looking for something new and Geoff/Voiceplay haven’t dropped any new stuff, check out The Bass Gang. Four basses. FOUR. And they’re really, really good. (I actually like their version of The Emperor’s New Clothes better than the original, but I’m just not that into guys in Satan costumes screaming, so while the original is great musically, it’s not quite my thing.)

The question is, who did this song better? Geoff Castellucci or Tim Foust 🤔? Both versions are enchanting, and both versions have deep 🔊. I REFUSE to choose 😆 🤣 BTW, lmao about my mentioning you getting a Geoff tattoo 🤪 🤣

@@toddholiman26 in italian when we have a double letter (ll tt cc nn mm ff dd for example) we pronounce both unlike english where only one is pronounced. in Italy only few foreigners pronounce the double even if they speake a very good italian. of course Castellucci is american (Virginia) and it is quite normal you pronounce his surname in english but if you wanna pronounce Castellucci in correct italian you have to imagine it written Castellllucccce or something like this....it is difficult to explain it without saying the correct pronunciation ... you should hear it pronounced. however he is american so it is normal to hear him called in english .......... but it is not the correct pronunciation of his surname which is unequivocally Italian and can be translated smallcastles. you say Pavaroti but it is Pavarotti....you say Casteluci but it is Castellucci .....you say Gabana but it is Gabbana.......you say Stalone but it is Stallone..and the italian pronunciation of the vowels is totally different than english one. I hope I have explained myself and given an idea of how to pronounce italian words and surnames with double consonants but as for the vowels, if you are interested in knowing the Italian pronunciation you have to talk to someone who knows it and explain it to you

Color me biased but hear me out. I'm voting cringe. Here's why. I've watched 3 of his videos and all 3 did the same thing. Country road was a bit show boaty for me but well done. But when he got to the end and there were 5 of him it was laughably audacious. I was literally thinking, "You compensating or what?" 16 Tons was awesome. Hadn't been done it a long time. It is a childhood favorite and the camera shake when all 4 of him hit the floor was great. It totally worked. For this one his other mini mes were just backup singers. No depth. Now the eye candy, the basement growls and the truly beautiful solo base runs aside (the guy has talent, full props for putting it out there), that's all it really was. There was nothing we haven't seen before. To me, it came across as a tavern shanty. He chose a song that has been done by Tim and Peter and was truly amazing with 120 different layers of the 2 guys voices, epic staging with the 2 scenes, a sense of ancient chants and inspiring harmonies. Geoff filled the empty space with a violin. Which is fine but doesn't compare to Peter's mesmerizing ahhs and epic range. I'd say his base performance was on par with Tim's, maybe slightly better as Tim over emphasized the vocal depth a bit which was slightly distracting, but the overall production didn't take me to the Misty Mountains. Everyone has their opinion, but for me this was a solid b flat.
