only in the non canon movie was finally dead. fortunatly in the anime...after her death....begins Tomoya trial....if he deserves to have a complete family or not(it was a trial from the girl of the dream world). if you paid atention in clanad and clannad after story appeared the light orbs for each good action Tomoya did. That orbs are made with happy memories. This Nagisa death was necesary for erase Tomoya rage against his father(the final orb...received from apologise to his father and be gratefull to him).

your lie in april and Anohana were the most saddest. Menma death was avoidable...Shintan lost his mother in a snowy day and the next year...he lost his most important childhood friend(ruining his future and hopes). Menma didn´t deserve to die.

the most saddest was Ushio death...because it was the final break point(after recovering mentally because Nagisa Death after 5 years....and learned about his father past...he was restauring his bond with his daughter. Because that bond became too powerfull...Ushio Death destroyed his last hope) After her daughter died....Tomoya dyes by sadness and regret.(Ushio only had 5 years). Both die in a snowy day(in that anime the snow is a representation of sadness and desperation)

Don't worry it's a good ending cuz nagisa is alive in the end idk how to explain it but the ending is so good 10/10 so for those who didn't continue it please watch it, it's really really good ending.

Gonna clear this up once and for all since i see a lot of people here commenting and acting like Nagisa dying was the end. **MAJOR SPOILER WARNING** In continuation after she died, Tomoya's trial starts, throughout the entire show you've probably seen the glowing orbs whenever Tomoya helps someone, these glowing orbs tie into the little girl and the robot she builds in the other world. The other world girl is a represenation of Ushio while the little robot represents Tomoya. As winter sets into the other world and the girl goes on a journey, it coincides with Ushio getting weaker (probably due to the same illness Nagisa had) However once Ushio passes away Tomoya also "dies" in that timeline HOWEVER the glowing orbs which i can only rationalize as "a higher being" decides to give Tomoya a new start because of all the people he has helped throughout life. Hence why there's a flashback to when Ushio is born and Nagisa survives. Might sound like im trying to "ackshually" this with the explanation, but i want people to keep watching if they just drop the series as Nagisa dies, Clannad is a masterpiece and the first anime i ever watched. I want it to be seen as a bittersweet story with an actual good ending and not a tragedy story.

after Ushio and Tomoya death(Ushio karmicaly speacking...died by the same illness of her mother 5 years later). After Ushio died...Tomoya reached his final break and died in the snow(The entire Okazaki family was extint). Ushio still ill(and knowing she will suffer the same tragic destiny like her mother)...begged to her father a last walk. After a large walk collapsed but Tomoya catched her in time. She says this final words "dad....i love you" and died in his father arms. Tomoya scream her daughter name to the sky and before collapsing he screams Nagisa name begging for do sometime. And finally Tomoya dies because his weakest state, bad nutrition and final break point he reached. fortunatly, this anime finished with a happy ending(The three of them are alive).

You do know, it wasn't a dream right? That all happened and it's why Tomoya has all those memories of that part of his life. The reason everything changed and Nagisa never died was because of Ushio (the one on the barren planet with the Robot who was actually Tomoya) making a wish to be with her father again and it took her back to then. At least it was something similar to that, haven't watched it in like a year but I know the wishes were what made it all happen.

@@ThatJakeChap no....originally...Ushio wish was save her parents from their tragic destiny(she didnt include herself in the wish). she was wishing to save both parents, didn´t caring if she dissappears from the existence(after all, her birth caused indirectly her mother death and five years later..the same dissease finished her life). but for acomplish that wish the three must agree with the desition. Initially Tomoya was planning to go back in past and never met Nagisa......because feels guilty for causing her death and their daughter Ushio. Nagisa was saddly getting away from him(her sacrifice finished in tragedy). Ushio remember her father song and the robot reminds the song...the other world is involved in light and Tomoya regained his hope. Runs to Nagisa and hug her...,because she and her daughter was always he was always dreamed. Nagusa was relieved and regained her joyness...she says she was happy...don´t regret anithing you done. Beyond all the predictions and expectations....Tomoya made a betterwish....he wants the entire familly alive and living happilly together. The time goes back again to the Birth day, this time Nagisa overcome and survive her disease and Ushio birth without inherihing her illness. and like the other timeline...Fuko chan awaken from her coma...for become Ushio´s friend again
