I'm hundred percent sure Sunny's parents and the police knew what really happened. That's why when we see a person cutting down *the* tree (it's a scene you get after getting into the last hole after completing the word of the hangman game) and when Omori approaches it, the person says 'Get away, you are not my son'. I have this feeling the dad did not forgive what Sunny did and he was the one who cut down the tree, also we do not know almost anything about the dad but that he seemed protective of Mari (In one of the pictures Basil took where Mari and Hero are cuddling together, he says that maybe Mari's dad wouldn't be happy about that) so I'm confident to say that after Mari's death, their parents got divorced/split up.
@aniahliepard3 жыл бұрын
I read in another comment section that the dad was playing favorites due to this exact reasoning, so this is very likely
@meicalcreigiau23463 жыл бұрын
I feel like he might have always neglected his son, the only ones truly caring for him were Mari and his mom. You can see that Sunny might have been dealing with some frustration even before the whole situation (when we see he smile? Only at the true ending). Getting angry and acting violently or not even trusting their parents to deal with the situation he had to deal shows that there might be some bad parenting there as well.

I think the main thing to take from this ending is just the concept of "moving on". As long as Sunny hides from the truth, and his friends are unaware of it, they all remain trapped in this ever perpetuating cycle of pain. Sunny admitting to the truth allows them all to move on... but not necessarily to a happier life. I enjoy the ambiguity of that. The road ahead of them might be filled with more pain, guilt and hatred, but at least they're no longer caught in this constant rat trap and can move forward.

I'm 100% sure it's canon everyone (eventually) forgave Sunny and Basil. The entire game was about the unbreakable bond these children had and overcoming their fears because they knew they would have their support with one another. Not only it feels incredibly unfitting and out of tone with the entire game and its previous message, but it just feels unlikely. Take Aubrey's words when talking about Basil. "Instead of trying to understand him, I started bullying him instead." Aubrey's character arc points completely to this. She didn't try to understand Basil before when the other kids tried to, but now she changed and is a better, more understanding person alongside everyone else. Forgiveness may have not come instantly, but I'm sure they would have forgiven them. Principally in the secret ending, with Something disappearing from both Basil and Sunny. Something was their guilt. If it's gone, it's probably showing the aftermath of the truth. These kids are, and still will be friends. Even if they're far away.

I agree. Even if it takes time, I'm sure they'll end up forgiving Sunny and Basil. The whole point of the game was about forgiveness, and they even put in a paralell to the incident with Aubrey almost drowning Basil accidentally. Plus all thoss points about being there for their friends? I really think that in the end, Hero, Kel and Aubrey will forgive Sunny and Basil. Even if it takes time. It was clearly an accident and 12 year olds Sunny and Basil were NOT in the state of rational thought. I'm a bit more concerned for Basil though, since his first idea of a coverup was a fake suicide. Maybe it's tied to the whole "no one would believe it was an accident" kinda thought they had, but still. Honestly I think Basil's got some issues even before Mari's death, so I just hope he gets support and therapy. Actually everyone in Omori needs to go to therapy.

Kind of depressing really, the ending lyrics. He's essentially talking about how he can't find the will to get up in the morning, how he spends everyday alone. Chances are this continues when he moves at least for a good while. I don't think It's a good ending personally. Sure he has closure but what else? He lost everything: his crush, his passion for instruments, his drive, his friends, the town he grew up in and his sister. Nothing will bring her back, she's gone. That life her and hero were going to have together as potential soulmates? Gone too. He lost almost everything, maybe even his right eye. Who's to say he's gonna make new friends either? As kel and hero's dad says: "Making new friends is harder as you get older. Cherish the good ones, hold onto them" or something like that. I don't think sunny will make many friends as good as the ones he had, given his age and shy nature. So yeah, when you really think about it this ending still has many negative implications. He isn't dead but I imagine he won't be nearly as happy as he once was. Life doesn't suddenly change for the better because you got a bit of catharsis, the human mind is fragile and doesn't recover well from this kind of thing.

I wouldn't say he lost his friends. Right before they go to sleep in Basil's house on the last day, Hero and Aubrey talk about how Sunny should come visit from time to time. Change is just a part of life, just because he moved away doesn't mean those ties are cut. I'd be lying if I said this ending still left some bitterness in my heart, but i'd say their friendship would be even stronger in the end, and that while knowing Mari is watching over him, I believe Sunny will be better off than he was.
@asternightingale40204 жыл бұрын
I'd say it's a good one. He has potential to heal now. If he gets forgiveness, it would make it easier, but I doubt he'd get it right away. It takes time, time that he got back. Before it was a ticking timebomb of guilt and pain. Now, some of it is gone and something new can grow.
@yuruyukii4 жыл бұрын
Change isn't essentialy bad. I'm sure his friends forgave him because he was the one that needed to forgive himself first since he was the one hating his actions the most. this game really changed alot for me and the way I think,, I've had my share of trauma and it left me feeling guilty too.. and all I can say is that living in such guilt is really so bad,, every single day I'll wake up and I just feel like I don't deserve it,, I'd be in a good mood and laughing with my friends then suddenly feel like I shouldn't be laughing.( obv it's not anywhere like what the characters in omori have went thro) I haven't forgiven myself for the longest time and really just ignored it all and acted like i haven't done anything and continued to just put the blame on anything else.. it could be my parents, my siblings, anything just to not feel like I'm a disgusting creature.. I couldn't live my childhood at all because of all this,, and really just felt guilty ever since,, it's only since like years later that I've finally had the chance to think things thro.. but at the same time I had no idea what to do.. i wanted some help from someone.. but I had no one to ask help for.. it took me ages to get rid of this guilt and accept myself.. and just learn from my mistakes.. and tbh I don't think I entirely got rid of it. This game really just felt like it was a message to me ( and many others who unfortunaly feel the same ) to accept myself. that I've done my mistake and it cannot be undone, but instead of living in guilt and ruining yourself, accept it and move on.. life may not be ever the same.. but sometimes it's better that way. a bit of a add on but I'm glad that sunny has such amazing friends.. it really shows just how important it is to cherish those who are with you and are willing to help you..

Something so fucking strong can be said about the fact that sleep- what Sunny has been refuging to for 4 straight years- is now his only obstacle. Omori being a reflection of Sunny in lazy bedtime clothing is a perfect representation that his blatant ignorance and refusal to overcome the trauma he gained from Mari's death, and the last section of this game takes it so hard that staying as the real-world Sunny is all that needs to happen for him to begin his recovery. I think it says a lot about people who beat themselves up about the issues in their own life, regardless of the size of it, and how will always be a net negative for your health to do as such

I just love how Sunny's vision of Stranger turns into Basil when he follows him instead of the fake Headspace friends, I don't see many people talking about that. Stranger is the counterpart of HS Basil that was presumably banished for wanting Sunny to remember the truth, hence why he's named Stranger: Omori wanted Sunny to pretend he didn't know this person, who was also a grim reminder of the truth. Now that Omori is gone, Sunny's acknowledged the truth and Basil's wishes. So Stranger returns to his role as Sunny's thoughts of Basil.

Seeing the comparison between the moment after Mari saved him from drowning in the past and the shot of him alone, not only shows how lonely and sad he felt but shows that he really hadn't grown much (as in mentally).

Man, I got so hopeless when the game stopped saying "Omori did not succumb" and instead it started saying "Omori will not succumb". I know it's a tiny detail, but it messed with me while I was fighting him, and it just got worse since I didn't last much longer in the battle while Omori just got stronger.

I... I just really hope, that Kel, Aubrey and Hero would forgive Sunny.
@MarkFin94234 жыл бұрын
I don't think that would be realistic, little shit killed his sister in a fit of rage, prolly going to juvie for first/second degree manslaughter along with basil as an accomplice. On top of that, their friends and family finding out. Ya no, those parents would prolly disown Sunny. The friends will likely never talk with them again. Only one they would prolly forgive is Basil but there would still be some contempt nonetheless. The only victory Sunny gets is a clear conscious and owning his actions. At least the kid had remorse,ain't gonna fix what he broke though.

@@MarkFin9423 Why their friends forgiving of an action by 12 years old frustrated, mentally overwhelmed and uncomfortable himself pushing her sister in self defense on a high pressure situation to leave him alone and unwillingly causing her death seems unrealistic to you? I finished Omori last night, I didn't knew why I was facing Omori, but now that I know, I was facing the hardest challenge of Sunny: Forgiving himself for what he done even he didn't mean to, it was the true final battle. My opinion? One of the best final bosses, to a psychological levels and on a indie game.

I didn’t see anyone comment on this so I’d thought I would. During the final cutscene, Sunny says, “I have to tell you something.” Meaning that he’s gonna tell his friends the truth about Mari’s death. “Something.” As in the little antagonist figure representing, well, Mari hanging? Just thought that was a neat touch.

@ordinaryfellow25672 жыл бұрын
Probably because in the Scene where the Suicide WAS gonna take place where Basil killed himself, He said "I will save you" , He meant by Killing the "Something" behind Sunny's Back, but then accidently stabbed Sunny's Right eye, Because the "Something" was Mari's Right eye, but stabbed Sunny's Right Eye when doing so.

The detail I like most about endings are, in good ending, after beating Omori you wake up from your hospital bed and go at the bottom where Basil's shadow past by. In bad ending, after giving up from fighting with Omori, you go to dream world again and go up to stairs and jump off from building, with hospital dress. That's because of Sunny actually sees hallucinations after giving up from fighting with Omori, after GIVING UP from life. If he didn't saw hallucination in there, he would basically go through top of the hospital hallway. When you try to go back, Sunny refuses to cuz, man. He already give up. That's why in good ending you see Aubrey, Kel and Hero's dream world version on top of the hallway. If you try to go to top Sunny refuses to cuz he REFUSES to give up on life, wants to live. And before having bad ending, Sunny drops his violin, but in good ending Omori drops his knife. I thing that violin means life for Sunny, in good ending he doesn't give up on it, in bad ending he drops it, it means he just gave up. Omg I love this details of the game

OMG how did it not hit me before?!; SUNNY's hospital room at 16:31 is OMORI's White Space; a place where you can feel safe but also can do nothing but wait for something to happen, since you're not allowed to leave till the doctors tell you otherwise. (I'd like to interpret these red arms in White Space taking OMORI back to his spot being nurses and other hospital staff trying to keep SUNNY in his hospital room and bed.) When SUNNY meets his/OMORI's Dream Friends at 17:34 they ask OMORI to come along, but the door where the Dream Friends go to, *leads to the balcony* where SUNNY, if you lose to OMORI, will jump off (hence why it shows the Headspace Sky for a moment during the Bad Ending Credits) SUNNY refusing to follow these imaginary projections of his friends to the balcony shows that SUNNY is determined to move on and face reality. The STRANGER at 17:51 on the other hand, who also tried to convince SUNNY out of OMORI's Headspace, walks towards BASIL's hospital room instead, as it turns out the "STRANGER" is actually BASIL from the real world who somehow "telepathically" communicated with SUNNY in Headspace. (But I'm sure most of you already figured that out as well)

Another thing about watering - SPOILERS There's a point in the game where all the plants will die and be unable to be watered. This is right before going into the Black Space near the end and this is okay. As long as you've watered the plants up until then you'll get the bonus cutscene!
