People get reminded that it's a horror game after you can hear that awful high-pitched noise.

I think OMOCAT did a pretty good job with setting a leitmotif even though it's a single sound, it's still an audial cue that something creepy is about to happen (though she does subvert it once, the first time you enter the piano room). She tells you straight upfront that "you hear this, something creepy is about to happen". What most players DON'T know about, though, is that there's a 2nd ringing tone, you heard it the very first time you saw White Space, it's a lot lower pitched. It's played in 2 and *only* 2 places in the game: The first time you enter White Space, and if you play the Hikikomori Route, it's played right as Omori hauls Basil out of Black Space and resets Headspace. So..... the tone you hear at the beginning of the game? That was Headspace resetting from the previous cycle.

@@Dhalin I paid no attention to it even though I've 100% completed the game but looking back on it you're absolutely correct. These kinds of little details are what makes this game so brilliant.

@@Dhalin There's a third place the lower "reset tone" plays: right before the Bad Ending, when you wake up in White Space. The black light bulb couldn't be reset, however, which might be why that ending happens as it does...

@@hyper_lynx Yeah, I later discovered that on my own after making that post. And yes, that's probably the best interpretation of why Omori chooses to do that, because he knows Headspace is irrevocably damaged. He knows it's empty, fake, and even the Friends in Neighbor's Room don't say anything, they just walk over and follow him like they're mindless puppets.

The fact that if you find the stab button before killing mewo in black space, you feel relieved doesn’t get enough credit. Suicide was the only way out, and most people didn’t give it a second thought, because apparently stabbing yourself is better than what seems to be the only other choice

I am very surprised that most streamers don't even comment on the ringing sound... though I imagine you might not hear it very well if you're using speakers rather than a headset. That ringing sound becomes a very consistent thing in the game, but this is the first time you hear it (other than "Headspace Reset" tone that most people don't recognize that is played at the very beginning which is a different tone entirely).

And that spooky font you see a second before the jumpscare.... lol. Especially if you weren't mashing the A button and you actually _looked_ at the font. For me that was a "wtf!?!?" when I saw that font... the next time you see it? "Everything's going to be okay. Everything's going to be okay. Everything's going to be okay. Everything's going to be okay." .... which I think needs a reaction video too.

@@Dhalin basil first phase isn’t bad tho. Slowly losing hope as your skills provide no benefit and disappear one by one as basil slowly kills you and as you realize running is impossible. Fighting becomes literally the only option, and the heartbeat meter starts to rise.

[SPOILER ALERT] what was basil even trying to say? “mari she died”? “mari she fell”? the two words he used implied that mari did something which is confusing me. would it not have made more sense for him to say something like “mari- something-” with the implication being that “something” pushed her, which would tie back into the delusion that basil held about sunny not being responsible? maybe even “mari you-” implying that this basil has become self aware and realized what sunny did, meaning that this version of headspace needed to be reset
