For the folks complaining about spoilers, if you guys really wanted to play the game unspoiled then mistake number one was watching videos of it on the internet. I really don't see the issue here. Play the game and then come back and watch the video. If including "spoilers" along the way ultimately make a better and more complete video, and Digital Foundry's decision to include those absolutely was the right direction to take. It's the same as reading or watching movie reviews before going and seeing the movie. It ultimately is going to spoil the movie some. Edit -- To be fair, the video upload date may have been better suited for a few days post-release. But it makes it no less of a great video.

Also, how many millions and millions of adults exist now who were either too young to play the original or *weren't even born yet?* Of course, you don't _really_ believe it's a smart move to assume that everyone has played the 20 year old original, do you? You cannot truly know the final number of people who know about the spoilers, let's use Star Wars as an example everyone knows who Darth Vader is to the point that clich'e becomes a joke in other stories. To top it off my rule with spoilers is if it's over 10 years old then I can spoiler it freely, also you should go into these kinds of videos expecting spoilers of some kind. Kinda like their look into Spiderman last year, as soon as I saw Doc Oct I knew he'd be involved in the story despite not being in the promotional trailers prior to lanuch.

Sorry if I'm being too blunt, John. But this doesn't seem to be a proper tech analysis to me. I wanted to give this video a like but I just couldn't help thinking that you've put far too much of a magnitude in naming the difference between this and the 1998 original. But to be frank, spoilers are fine for me, as I believe the majority of the design differences have been shown in the demo already. But the key issue is that you spent far too little time analyzing the game from a technological perspective. Among all the things talked of, the one that impresses me the most is the HDR implementation and blackness problems. I think this has been a bad trend in Digital Foundry's productions overall, and this is why I appreciate Alex's works the most, since he really spends a lot of time researching how an engine behaves for a game, what artifacts are there that could have been improved, and what as well as whatnot in combination creates the most satisfying visual outcome etc. But don't get me wrong. I really respect you as a pioneering figure in this field. Many of your episodes are among my favourite YT videos of all time. And I'm no match when it comes to the understanding of video gaming techs and hence, I'm in no position to judge arrogantly. It is just that if I may put forward a piece of advice, I hope you might take more time and share with us what you find interesting.

I wouldn't say MAJOR spoilers, but yeah I would have appreciated just focusing on the tech not direct comparisons of the original and remake showing what has changed gameplay and layout wise in several areas of the game. I wanna experience all that for my self. Like the intro, I hadn't seen anything about the intro. Was looking forward to see how Capcom changed it up. Kinda sucked having it spoiled scene by scene : / He could have done a analysis of the tech just using what we've seen in the demo, or use the other areas without also explaining in detail how they are changed in terms of layout and gameplay.

I also love Digital Foundry and what they do. Why is everyone complaining?? it CLEARLY says (Spoilers) in the title. That means watch at youre own risk. i Just came from almost 4h run and just got out of the police station. Just scrubbed the video while paused and after ca. 20min there are som spoilers after police station. Il have to come back and watch the full video after im done then P.S. Really hoping the comments are wrong about this not being a Tech Review, im asuming they are right as there is no FPS analysis here :/

In depth work John, good skills. It maybe best to release the tech analysis and performance comparison video first with fps, resolution etc for people deciding which system to buy the game on, or whether to buy it at all. Then upload this one a bit after release. The title of this video is a little misleading from usual DF stuff. Cant fault the work though.

Sooo most of the comments read as "HOW DARE YOU HAVE SPOILERS FOR A 20 YEAR OLD GAME I HAD NO INTEREST IN PLAYING TILL THIS REMAKE!" come on guys the demo is out. As far as spoilers "If you can call them that..." he only talks about the first what 20 maybe 30 minutes of a 16 hour game. Funny when there was a potential spoiler he stoped said "Explaining any more of what happens next would spoile a new twist. So I won't say anymore." All he showed you could see in a let's play of the original game. All that would change is small route differences. I swear what is wrong with people...

I usually bank on the X but japanese games have let me down and I find out they perform better on pro (Ace Combat 7 for example). This is such a huge release though I also went with the X here too. I'm only now seeing this comparison lol

Ace Combat has no effort in it by Lazy developers but RE2 remake will perform the best on the X like 99% of the games.
