I love how they wrote Optimus in this one, his characterization is complex and has flaws like D-16 has before each reached this stage in maturity, plus unlike TFP Orion's actually shown being regretful for his past treatment of his brother, so its not really a sheer moral high ground situation its an organic fallout of their relationship as they are both met with tough experiences in this journey.
