How anyone can say that Mac and Riley are like brother and sister is beyond me .It may have just been made apparent Riley has feelings for Mac during season 4 but if you look back over the previous seasons there are plenty of signs they have feelings for each other. Jack did do the parental thing with Mac at times and it was especially mentioned in ep 2x04 when Mac was kidnapped by Murdoc and they referred to it as Jack " helicopter parenting " him but at no time has it been inferred they are like brother and sister unlike with Riley and Bozer in 3x19.Lucas and Tristan were born in the same year but he is 2 months younger than her and the baby of the main cast. Desi and Mac have zero in common apart from the job and their whole relationship has been based on physical attraction and nothing more. She hates his taste in music and movies , she yawned during a trip to an art gallery and she flatly refused to go fishing yet he has to do what she wants and even him macsplaining gets on her nerves. She said she trusted him and that he betrayed her and yet where was this trust when she was the first to say he was compromised or when she was quite happy to kill him when she went along with Russ to drop an actual bomb on him [ something Mac still doesn't know ] or when she was tracking him instead of just asking him what he was doing in 5x07.Everything is always Mac's fault and she seems to have to control everything he says and does. As it has been said " Love means never having to say your sorry " but Mac is always apologising to her and she really showed what a loving girlfriend she is in 5x13 when Mac fell and she just walked away and left him lying there knowing fine well he was having trouble with his hands. It amazes me how some people choose to ignore all this and only seem to see when they appear to be getting along which is only because Mac no longer argues with Desi and just agrees with her but when he does something like the above garage incident happens. I had noticed that in the promo for Friday's episode we see Mac , Riley , Bozer and Russ doing a toast but Desi is not there we can only hope that this means that they have finally broke up.

For me it was like brother sister at first, but in szn3 especially after jack left and when billy turned out to be a cheating dbag with the moment Mac comforted her after they broke up, that’s when I really started to see Macriley form up. I think it was just seeing that uncle nephew(and father like figure Jack was to Mac) type bond Jack had with Mac and seeing how Riley is pretty much jacks unofficial stepdaughter, it made them seem like siblingsish at first, but after more time the chemistry formed up especially after Cage left. I am 95% certain that Desi was introduced because they had all this stuff the writers had planned out to use for Cage before Isabel Lucas decided to leave and focus only on Australia stuff and with Jack leaving they decided to use all this stuff they wanted to use in szn 2 to make up for Jack leaving. Cage and Desi have so much in common, both are 5’6, hot, skilled, badass fighters, who take their jobs seriously, implied to be bisexual, at first shared back and forth smiles with Mac, and both played soccer when they were growing up. The dead fiancé thing was probably planned for cage as well when cage said “I never get involved with a man (slight pause) or woman I work with” the never part could have been a lie, like she had a relationship with someone during her SAS 4 squadron days that was serious up to an engagement, but then that person died on a mission and then she was offered a job by the CIA that’s when she decided to not date someone she works with again, judging off the pause I’m guessing her fiance might have been a woman. Ik I am in the very small almost non-existent percentage of the fandom who ship Mac and Cage, but I really thought they would make a great couple and thought they would have a great romance, I think the writers wanted them to have a relationship at first but then sometime during the filming of the first half of the season Isabel Lucas decided to leave and the writers felt like it would be better if Mac and Cage had no relationship rather than one that was just a few episodes. To me Cage kinda reminded me of patty spivot in the flash, just subtract the love interest part. Cage would have been a far better love interest than Desi, in 2x06 cage was worried Mac had conformation bias when he was searching for his dad, but she had only known him for like 2 months at that time, and after she saw his plan to put out the well head fire work, she said that Mac can find his dad, which he did, Desi however thought he was compromised and held a gun at him with Russ, and that was after they had known eachother for over a year and had been on dates. My main purpose of still thinking Mac and cage could have been such a great couple to potentially endgame is that I started watching the show over the pandemic when certain clips from szn 1 started becoming popular on TikTok, and at that point I was kinda tired of seeing the main character or one of the core characters’ endgame love interest being someone that was in the pilot or 1st szn. I get the slow burn relationship MacRiley was going to be if there was a 6th szn, but the slow burn relationships examples I can think of are Harvey and Donna in suits, and Tim and Lucy in the rookie, but in those at least one of the characters is at least 40 when they started dating, which let the relationship go a bit faster, like getting faster to the proposal and then wedding, cuz of the age, with MacRiley both are like 31 by the time the show ends, still a bit young for a slow burn relationship for me at least and so much stuff can happen cuz they are still pretty young at that point. With cage there was so much potential like this mysterious new girl who has closed herself off for years, then meets and gets to know this smart, handsome guy, who she lets in, she told Mac her greatest fear and trusted him to keep it a secret. Cage as a character in general to the show not just as a love interest, could have had so much potential to the show and the team was perfect with her and Jack on there, like Desi and Russ on the team is like a 1/10, but the team with Jack and Cage is complete perfection. Ik some people had a problem with cage cuz she was similar to Denise Richard’s Bond girl, and some viewers saw it as not believable for a hot skinny girl to be a secret agent, but it’s a fictional show about a spy who’s main skill is being able to whip up some crazy gadget using stuff lying around and in a timely manner, so that didn’t bother me and I was fine perfectly fine with her on the show.
