Do you see yourselves running Despoiler Squads or more of an Assault Squad player?
@7nineofspades5 Жыл бұрын
I have 2 15 man despoiler squads built for my Word Bearers, likely to make them both 20 man soon. Throwing a buff from Zardu Layak (+1S and +1M) and/or from Dark Brethren ROW (Another +1S, +1M and also +1WS) makes them super killy.

I have a 10 man squad, working my way up to 20. I’ve got Power Lances on every 1/5, because I think they will help a lot in a mirror match, and they look awesome. Every enemy combatant removed before thet get to strike is huge when meeting someone of equal strength. The Sergeant is either having an Axe or Power Fist, but I do find the Charnabal tempting.

As a SW player. I think despoilers are great. If you are going to pay more points for the Grey Slayers/Stalkers, just go straight to Assault squads. Sure they can take less upgrades. But how many power weapons are you putting in each squad anyway? I generally feel 6 is enough (4 squaddies, sgt and apothecary).

I field a 20man squad with power axes and a fist on sarge, dark channeling on them since, well, I bear the word of lorgar. kinda want to try 2-3 10man squads running around.

I'm suddenly picturing Imperial Fists and Dark Angel Stormwing Despoilers with double bolt pistols for maximum ridiculousness.
@Ok-xj7gz Жыл бұрын
You can do that with destroyer squad and give them jump pack

My 10 man cheap despoiler squad has Sgt Dark angels sword Firewing Serpents bane row For 115pts they usually get +1 to hit wound and attack if spite of the legion kicks in they get another attack. I am only playing 1500pts atm but man there strong and most of these rules apply to there bolt pistols even, just so many attacks and shred.

Iron hands 20man despoiler squad all dual pistols, double grav pistol Sgt, 4 with grav + bolt pistols and vexilla. 15 double bolt pistols.

I know I'm late to the party with you guys and your podcast, but this makes the perfect listening while making my World Eaters Mk3 Despoilers! Chain Axes, Power Weapons, and Falax Blades on the Sarge and Apothecary. If the enemy is pinned, and in magical charging wonderland, a 20 man squad + Apo = 75x Chain Axe, 20x Power Weapon (I'm making enough Axes, Mauls, and Lances to choose what ever floats my boat on the day of), and 12x Falax Blade Attacks if everybody makes it there alive. I'm going to try running them bubble wrapping a Deredeo (Aiolos is Pinning and the Autocannons are great multipurpose). Is it the best? Probably not, but will it be fun and look cool on the table once painted up.

As WS in sagyar mazhan they seem good : +1 mv from WS trait, gives +1 to charge as well Sagyar Mazhan gives 5+ fnp In a 20 man squad they seem scary cause they go faster and can take more damage

Trade both the Sgt’s bolt pistol and chainsword for lightning claws. It is +20 points but you get that sweet sweet +2A and Rending 6+ Shred.
@pentacosttb2565 Жыл бұрын
Or a Lightning claw and a power fist. Both being Specialist Weapons give +1A and either I4 ,AP3, Rending and Shred attacks, or I1, AP2 instant death attacks, making your sergeant able to take out both MEQ and TEQ depending how n the situation.

Death guard despoilers with heavy chainswords and rad grenades cause instant death vs t4. Death guard land raiders can move full speed turn 1, fire all weapons at full BS and be ready to disembark turn 2. It’s not game breaking but I like it.

Playing World Eaters I'm finding the Despoilers (15) just get wrecked by elite units while killing nothing in return. I've switched back to tac marines(10) with cc weapons sometimes and my elite units do the killing.

Same. I’ve only ever had luck running them in ZM

I've had successes and failures. Give the Sgt falax blades and he's gonna beat all the other sergeants. Sometimes I get shot to bits before I get in, but if I get the charge I almost always win that fight.
@drainer499 Жыл бұрын
Wouldt ironwarriors dispoilers be good? Here is what i think. First of off all you got a good and cheap mellee unit to balance out the shooting and make the oponent think twice before foolishly charging anyware close them. Then the bonus to dreadnaughts, pure weight of numbers should do the trick. In worst case dread kill 3 guys and you got him pinned dined with a squad that is eventually going to kill it for less points. There is a string argument for sons of horus aswell.

Good video, but i think you did miss the big question - why would you take Despoilers when you can take Assault Marines? I think HotL is decent but Spite is very situational. Surely speed and the ability to hide then jump over terrain is a better option
@Lorddacenshadowind Жыл бұрын
Aren't assault marines elite?
@cerrilove700 Жыл бұрын
@@Lorddacenshadowind no, theyre a Troop option, with line. Have nearly all of the same weapon upgrades as Despoilers. Only difference is Assaults cost slightly more, gain a jumppack and lose Heart and Spite

Yes I think it’s a 50/50, very good point though. I think assault marines work really well in certain legions.

Assault marines are attractive, but despoilers are _cheap_. A squad in a rhino with a vexilla is the same cost as a basic assault squad.

Opponent will be Traitor Guard with lots of plague zombies. So a few days ago I rummaged in my bitz box and found the following: 9 Death Company marines and a Sgt. from 2nd 40K. There were even still two hand flamers in the box which are perfect to incinerate lots of cheap infantry models. Legion will be IH and riding in a rhino on the flank. So when they jump out of it and burn lots of bad dudes they are more likely to survive incoming fire than any other Legion. Rest of the loadout will be fairly cheap to avoid creating a points sink unit which might attract more fire than their buddies. So the Sgt. will keep the chainsword (although with a bionic arm; LOL!) and the unit will receive the usual HH 2.0 unit upgrades for modeling purposes.

2 pistols count as 2 weapons in assault. Shoot pistols on way in and assault the rest? 60 cheap marines running towards me shooting and assaulting would make me nervous lol a 20 man body guard for sevatar seems good

Personally I really like despoilers as back-line objective holders. For 150 points you can get a squad that not only sits on the objective competently, but also dissuades the enemy from taking a dedicated melee unit and going hunting in your back line.
