Now in Rome, every married couple within the Furia family lives in fear. For in the night, Lionheart breaks into their villas and leaves notes by their bedside saying "Give us children for Rome... Or else..."

''The Curse of Fratricide in Rome'' - Chapter 1 Fratricide: a compositional word from the Latin ''frater'', meaning ''brother'', and ''caedes'', meaning ''slaughter''. In essense, therefore, the word fratricide means ''brother-slaughter''. At least a decent amount of you will immediately jump to the rather famous tale of Romulus and Remus. You would, of course, be right. If there existed a recurring theme in the Roman culture and her politics, you could usually trace back said theme to the early Roman mythology -- or, alternatively, the Era of Kings. So, briefly: Romulus and Remus were twins born to the virgin Rhea. Aemulius, the twins' uncle, usurped the throne of Alba Longa from his brother Numitor, the father of Rhea. Numitor being exiled, Rhea was a threat to Aemulius. After all, if she gave birth to a son, said son could rise up to defend his grandfather's claim. Aemulius imprisoned Rhea, who later claimed that the god of war, Mars -- the Roman equivalent of Ares -- raped her. Nine months later, Aemulius found out Rhea had delivered a set of twins. Aemulius promptly decided to order two servants to lay out the boys in the wilderness to die. Aforementioned servants did not do their jobs, obviously. They decided that surely the river Tiber was enough to kill the two boys and so they laid them to die. Funnily enough, this story would eventually evolve into the folk-tail of Snow White, who also was ordered to be killed by an evil family member, but was spared a quick death by the servant ordered to kill her. So, Romulus and Remus were lying there and, fortunately, a friendly she-wolf came to suckle them and raise them. Funnily enough, this story would eventually evolve into the folk-tail of Mowgli and, to a certain degree, Tarzan, who also were raised by animals only to return to civilisation. Most people do however not know that the she-wolf is little more complicated. The Latin word for she-wolf is ''lupa''. It also happens that ''lupa'' can be translated as ''whore'', which was precisely the profession of a certain Acca Larentia, the wife of a herdsman, Faustulus. This man found Romulus and Remus and, being a man, gave them to Acca Larentia to raise. So, linguistically speaking, Romulus and Remus could either be raised by a she-wolf or a whore. Language is a tricky thing, no? I think I need to explain that it would make infinitely more sense for the twins to be raised by an actual human being. Romulus and Remus, thinking Acca Larentia and Faustulus were their actual parents, grew up quite happily, although causing a lot of trouble in their youth. They were quite the masculine rascals. Once time, one of the twins was caught by the king of the area, Aemulius. The boy was caught stealing from the land of the exiled Numitor. Aemulius, being bound by laws, gave the boy to Numitor for punishment. Numitor soon realised that the scoundrel given to him was his own grandson. Things move quickly from there: one twin incites a popular riot within Alba Longa, whereas the other marches upon the city with an armed band of friends and family. Aemulius unfortunately does not live. Numitor is reinstalld as king and the everyone lived happily ever after... ...except for Remus. Til next time, when we will discover that Romulus and Remus is not the only account of fratricide in Rome.

Close victory? The autoresolve gave you terrible outcomes and you completely trounced the rebels, I would call that a Heroic Victory!

Console-ship is based on the generals in the field, so any that are actually in lead of an army, so which ever 2 have the most gravitas will become consol

I know its probably not a practical target at the moment, but if you can capture Carthage it has a unique building that gives you 2000 a turn plus some other nice bonuses. So maybe something to think about for the long term.

I'm polish and I'm sitting here eating Potatoes and some Sausage(Born On It) and I'm wondering why in the hell there aren't a Million Views on this? What makes me happy! is that the community that is present now, if anyone reading this knows that it is hard/difficult, to get a "hardcore" fan base. Thumbs up the video! not this comment.

Why would you let a rebellion build (thus hurting your income) instead of killing it off right away?
@lionheartx106 жыл бұрын
roho10011 because the longer you leave a rebellion the better the public order in the province where it spawned. Every turn a rebellion is left standing public order improves by +20 each turn so it’s worth doing for a few turns otherwise you’ll just be facing another rebellion in a few turns. Plus what little they do raid from you doesn’t really hurt your economy too much certainly not mine at this stage of the game.

Problem is with this campaign and total war is its becoming far to easy, as the AI is just so poor. It so easy in total war to learn how the AI behaves l, they act the same each time and you know what's coming. Would be so much better if the AI had multiple set battle stages and attics or if it was a radiant AI and learnt from you or its mistakes! Enjoying this campaign keep it up!

How are you only making 3k a turn and only able to support three armies in the field? I’m watching 3 other let’s plays of rise of the republic and they’ve all been able to steam roll the AI with about the same amount of turns you’ve gone through.
