Asteria Pendant with 12mm rivoli, superduos, 11/0 and 15/0 seed beads

Thank you for the tutorial and love it when you utilize size 12 mm rivolis and cabochons of which I rarely find tutorials for. I enjoy using 12 mm for rings, earrings and hand bands as they seem to be just the right size for me. Again thank you for the tutorial.

Juliet, I just made this with Swarovski Montana Blue and royal blue superduo’s. Instead of using 7 - 15’s to make a loop, I used a thread guard and put 7 - 15’s across the top of the thread guard. I reinforced the last row until I used up the beading thread 🧵. No knots. It looks so beautiful 😍.

Loved making this but I had to use a 14mm rivioli. My seed beads must be slightly larger than the ones used, but it came out beautifully. Thank you for sharing

Hi Juliet! I made the Asteria pendant today but it didn't turn out as good as yours. I used Miyuki 11/0 and Miyuki 15/0 for the bezel, 4 rows of the 11/0 and the 2 rows on the front and back of the Rivoli, but it came out a little large. I ended up adding a "through one bead, skip one bead" decorative row of 15/0 on both sides. Also, I was tightening my rows as I worked them but the last row, 15/0, 11/0, 15/0, I did as you said and didn't pull it so tight or it would start cupping, however, doing that left a lot of thread showing around the last row of beads. Please help! Thank you. Georgena

@@SpoiltRottenBeadsTV well, I took out the last row, 15/0, 11/0, 15/0, and kind of wiggled the main part of the pendant and for the most part, it became more flat. When I added the last row again, I didn't pull hard, I just pulled ever so slightly.

Just had a go at this great tutorial. But at the end my pendant wants to curle upwards or downwards depending on which way i pull my fireline

Hmmm - you could try adding a little size 15/0 bead on the last row of your beading to see if that solves the issue, or it could be an issue with thread tension...

In every bezel I’ve made so far, every pattern says to use so 11/0 miyuki DELICA beads. My bezels always seem to be a bit loose no matter how tightly I pull the thread. It appears that you are using regular 11/0 seed beads. Are they perhaps a bit smaller? Could be why some have had to use less than the 32...maybe that’s why my bezels are too big?

nancy cleaver....im quite new to beading BUT I THINK the 11'os are round & the 15'os are delicas...the colours are what ive copied from spoilt rotten beads sometime ago..we were using Chalk Lilac Luster for the pink, Jet Blue Iris for the Blue and Crystal Violet Rainbow for the golden colourway hope that helps in some way........... happy beading

I made 3 attempts bezeling a 12 mm Swarovski rivoli with 32 miyuki gold SB but it seems to be loose inside. I need to rip out the third one too and maybe reduce the number of SB. Otherwise instructions are very clear. Hope my 4 the attempt will be a success.

The bezel came out too large for the 12mm rivoli. I would suggest 28 seed beads and not 32. Also the written directions missed out an entire round of size 11 seed beads (even in the photos!). I'm afraid this was a kit I had to do over three times to get right.

+Spoilt Rotten Beads sorry, I didn't mean to complain, I was just so frustrated and when I wrote that I was on attempt number three. But it came out really nice, but I used 28 seed beads. I did notice somebody else had used a 14mm rivoli with 32 seed beads, so they must have had similar trouble to me. No worries.

Hiya Joan, We've spoken to a few people about this and we're a bit puzzled as we always use 32 beads when we bezel a 12mm rivoli, I guess it might have something to do with thread tension or maybe other brands of seed beads. Our beads are Miyuki 11/0 and we've made quite a few of these ourselves and always used 32 beads. But if it works better for you to reduce the amount of 11/0 in the first ring then it won't alter the design at all and will look just as lovely! Best wishes & happy beading. Juliet
