Spokane mayor signs executive order to halt increase to event fees

Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown signed an executive order on Wednesday freezing an increase in event fees, which were set to double for organizers and the city from 2024 to 2025.
City code outlines that fees for special events like Bloomsday, Hoopfest and the Lilac Parade would double in cost but the city says the executive order to reduce costs aims to strengthen community and cultural events in Spokane.
