I love that you guys added in to the point about less flowers to know when your flowers bloom. A lot of new gardeners don't understand that those holiday flowers you get, such as Easter lilies, are forced to bloom at a different time than they are supposed to. In my climate, Easter lilies bloom in May/June instead of at Easter.

Tracy, also don't forget if the pot is small enough then you can do the pot in pot method where you get a larger pot than your plant is in and insulate your roots. Put soil in the bottom of the larger pot then add your potted plant. Add soil to the remainder of the larger pot to fill it up then add mulch on top. It's like heeling in but with containers.

I can't believe I missed the Live chat! Hey y'all! In addition to all of my other container plants I am attempting foxglove in a container for the first time. I'm really nervous though because some children just moved in down the road and they like to roam around and explore the neighborhood.

My biggest problem with my container plants is fungus gnats. They moved in a few weeks ago. I've researched and have found that adding beneficial nematodes is the best remedy for getting rid of them. The problem is, beneficial nematodes are super expensive. Is there any way to eradicate these little flying buggers without breaking the bank? They have already murdered by Southern charm zinnia seedlings and have moved into several other potted plants now. 😢

Ugh, we're so sorry! Yes, nemotodes are pricey. One thing you could try is using yellow sticky traps. They use them all the time in professional greenhouses and growhouses. Keep them away from pets though (because of the stickiness). We hope that helps!!

95% of my flowers are in pots bc we have so many trees that every time the shovel hits the dirt, it also hits a root 🫣

Oh gosh! We ate sooo sorry to hear they are back. We don't have any experience with them. Try to practice good ipm and do what you can to help your plants. We do suggest to let your extension agency in your county know this is happening and maybe they can help.
