This is by far the most interactive and interesting way I have found to learn Arabic in the Lebanese dialect. Angela your resource has been invaluable to a most English speaking American trying to regain the roots of his Lebanese ancestors and communicate with my Sito more. Thank you

Mar7aba, a question please: In these videos when you write these words from the Lebanese dialect and you use the Arabic alphabet, are you actually writing the words from Lebanese or are you writing the equivalents from MSA? Shokran.
@spokenlevantinelebanesearabic3 жыл бұрын
We don't have a standard form of writing in colloquial. For example we produce additional vowels and we omit or don't pronounce or change the pronounciation of some letters, so generally colloquial writing is different to MSA. Example قلب qalb is pronounced as alb (qaaf often becomes a) and tha ث becomes ta ت like ثعلب ta3lab. Also "shwey"شويّ in Lebanese is originally شويّة shawiyyah in MSA, so sounds very different. I have a video abour opposites in MSA in the MSA channel. Just search: Opposites Learning Arabic with Angela

Great video! Very useful information. I'm just doubtful as to how to use Dark. Is it the same word for all gendes like هالأوضة عتمة ولا هالمكان عتمة؟
@spokenlevantinelebanesearabic2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Gaston. Yes, both expressions are ok. For المكان: هالمكان عتمة Over here عتمة is a noun This place (has or is full of ) darkness. هالمكان عِتِم / مِعْتِم 3itim / mi3tim This place is dark (masculine adjective)

marhaba, I am Turkish girl and trying to learn Arabic for my Lebanese boyfriend. I noticed that too many words were passed to Turkish directly. For example, hafif, gani, fakir…
@spokenlevantinelebanesearabic2 жыл бұрын
Marhaba w-ahla w-sahla feeki. Hello and welcome. Yes for sure, due to Ottoman empire rule for several hundred years. The word dikkanjee دكنجي a grocery store keeper for example is from Turkish as well as others. 😊 That should make vocabulary a bit easier for you I hope.

Hi Angela Do you have anything about how to make adjectives into verbs? Masalan "ta3baan - bit3ab" "mabsooT - bnbasiT" How do I figure out the pattern?
@spokenlevantinelebanesearabic Жыл бұрын
Hi Umm Zakariya. I haven't got that in video. You have to look up the verb in a dictionary to find the gerund and participles. For adjectives that's separate and will not come under the verb. Through exposure to content and conversation you will become familiar with what nouns are common (whether particples or adjectives). Sometimes the adjective is more commonly used than the participle and vice versa. Here is a video on how to use a dictionary (MSA) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4WvYYyOd6-XhNU
