Had to be a magic trick to have all those people in that railcar. Crazy. Like as well the well kept station at the end compared to the overgrown one at the beginning. Excellent stuff. All the best.

Many thanks Tim as always, That train reminded me of the world record attempt all those years ago of how many people could you fit into a Mini car.....Best wishes to you....Mark

That was a full railcar. The next loco hauled train is the afternoon peak hour service from Namur to Bertrix, that train stays in Bertrix for the night and runs a peak hour service in the morning in the opposite direction. I would suppose that the exodus normally involves scholars going to college either in Dinant or Namur and on the afternoon train back to the rural villages along the Athus-Meuse line. The morning peak hour service then returned from Namur to Dinant and it did run a tourist service between Dinant and Houyet for most of the day until the afternoon trip from Namur to Bertrix. The tourist service shuttled tourists to Houyet which would then kayak the Lesse river downstream back to Anseremme just across the Meuse bridge south of Dinant. This meant that the train was full to Houyet but always returned as an ECS, when you wanted to return to Dinant you had to take the railcar back. The Dinant-Givet section was closed for regular passenger traffic since 5 years then, the CF3V operated a tourist service but that too has ceased, the line is officially closed now. The blue French locomotive they operated was a Sulzer powered class 63000, much quieter than the MGO powered 63500 we are so familiar with, all 63000s were withdrawn from SNCF service before 1999. I believe the engine was a 6LDA22, a smaller displacement variant of the 6LDA28 we know from classes 24 to 27

Many thanks Tom for this incredible information....Yes I captured the "Kayak" trains in my earlier video I uploaded of Houyet, also the Namur to Bertrix service appears in the clip of Bertrix in the recently uploaded video. I believe it is in the hand of the same Locomotive too.....My best wishes to you Tom....all information and your interest is greatly appreciated....Mark

The Dinant railcar exodus was something to see! Couldn't count, but I'm guessing it was full when it arrived, and full when it left - just not necessarily with the same people!
