One thing that really stands out to me is how the character’s hand gestures and posture match with the dialogue, that’s something I think really adds on to the authenticity to the gameplay

The cutscenes in the original are a lot clearer when showing you what you need to do (i.e the robots). The new one also didn't pick up on a few visual gags from the original. But yes. The new one is very smooth and pretty.

A bit inaccurate comparison, the PS2 was likely done on an emulator with upscaled resolution, which makes things appear more pixelated than they actually are. New game still looks good tho

Honestly I would’ve compared the original Xbox version to the Rehydrated PC version with the graphical settings on high (including settings that have to be configured in the game’s configuration files) since those are both the definitive versions of each but you do you.

I think those who think the "original" is better just make up non valid reasons why they think its better "the new one lacks character". while the old one have weird expressions that don't even fit with the dialog yet think its better while the remake has much more animations and its much more wholesome looking and has more character and you'd wanna look at it. I really don't understand how the old one is better in any type of way. but both games are good

This is one of those remasters that is almost unambiguously better than the original. I simply can't get myself over how lifeless the original look in comparison, especially with SpongeBob limited expression and the fact he always look at the same invisible placeholder NPC when in dialogue with others characters (thus making him make eye contact above Garry and Plankton). Their biggest accomplishment in my book is making Kelp Forest a visually enjoyable expirience, and after playing throw the remaster, Jellyfish Field actually feels more right in the remaster considering the place has a very recreational-y vibe
