I can't remember where but I've came across Spongebob conspiracy theory about Spongebob being an allegory for something really dark in the early 2000s and I have to admit that Spongebob have some very questionable episodes for a children's show.

Honestly, whether that's true or not, that's more believable than the any of the BS you here from these types sponsors anyway. Maybe I'm jaded and cynical, but I would literally have to watch the entire process from birth to the meat being served to believe they were actually doing all this, and even then, I'd still probably chock it up to a performance for winning over skeptics.

The set up of anti-goofy goober traps for the movie may've also been a way for producers to dissuade SpongeBob from going to GG's so he could be more controlled by producers, until they decided to incorporate GG's in the show. I mean, Mindy show's up to help them overcome the trench with "manliness" as opposed to GG-ness. But that beg's the question if the Patrick Star show and his childhood were also being televised, Idk what took so long to incorporate GG into the show as a major plot point. Although I haven't seen the PS show at all

This isn't unique to SpongeBob. A lot of TV shows create fictional establishments that feel cult like. This is usually meant to commentate on capitalism and the more cult like aspects of various corporations.

I don't know how deep you want to go into the lore behind this series, but if you wanna go super deep, there's a few channels you should check out.
