SpongeBob is Confirmed To Survive Until 2025

SpongeBob SquarePants is officially safe for the next few years. While new SpongeBob episodes haven't been airing often (and they get low ratings), Nickelodeon still has big plans for the overall SpongeBob franchise. We're getting new movies and new seasons of the spinoffs!
Nickelodeon has several key franchises right now - Avatar: The Last Airbender, Blue's Clues, The Loud House, Transformers - while SpongeBob SquarePants is by far the most recognizable. Because of this, Nick wants to keep Bikini Bottom's sea sponge around for a few more years, at least. Whether it be through these new SpongeBob movies, The Patrick Star Show, Kamp Koral, or the main SpongeBob series, the SpongeBob universe lives on!

SpongeBob is literally Nick's version of the Simpsons it keeps going on forever. Not a surprise because SpongeBob is one of Paramount's most successful shows. Sure the show had garbage episodes like A Pal for Gary and One Coarse Meal doesn't mean its a terrible show. It is still a great show that many kids even adults like it due to the jokes in episodes such as in Gary Takes A Bath. Great Video Valiskibum!

2025 is surprisingly short. it's kind of upsetting because I don't want to see this show end. SpongeBob has been apart of my life since I was born. I was born in 2005 and my parents had the DVDs of the first three seasons of SpongeBob. It was actually SpongeBob who taught me my first words “ Bob Bob ”. I had so many memories growing up with this show and I don't want to see it go.

I loved the show too, but we know this show won’t end in 2025 and will still keep going. This show feels like it will end up like fairly odd parents. Be stretched to near infinity until it inevitably hits a point that it horribly sucks and they end it in a unsatisfying end. I don’t want a show that I loved to die where all of its originally identity is gone and it’s own legacy are money grab spin-offs and cheap movies

Just imagine this one day. The last episode of spongebob. Spongebob finally gets his license. Squidward finally became a famous musician and artist. Sandy makes a groundbreaking scientific discovery. Mr. Krabs makes a million dollars and retires in style and passes his formula to Plankton to continue the business and they shake hands calling each other brothers. As for Patrick, well, he proves that mayonnaise is in fact an instrument. The gang gathers one last time to frolick in jellyfish fields. The camera slowly zooms out over bikini bottom as the end credits song begins to play and we hear the French narrator calmly say, “ahh bikini bottom. Here we leave our nautical friends. And as they say, F is for friends who do stuff together, U is for U and me, N is for anywhere and anytime at all down here in the deep blue sea. (Credits) *Totally not stolen 👍*

Since you brought that up since the show won't be ending anytime soon i wonder what exactly is nick plan for when the voice actor pass i mean the reason we don't see mermaid man and barnacle boy appear anymore is because their voice actor passed away. Are they just gonna get replacement voice actors when they die i don't know how i feel about that the voices of spongebob are iconic and i think getting replacement voice actors will end up getting backlash. This is why i think the show should come to an end soon cause i think the voice actors should get to see the show they spent years working on get a great conclusion before they pass on.

@@austinandhisfriends Well the show could last longer, we know that Spongebob will last AT LEAST to 2025, so there is a chance that the show would last for longer, which I think is pretty likely considering how popular Spongebob is, the thing is though, it's more likely than ever that Spongebob would end now than ever before especially because I BARELY hear anybody talk about the Season 13 episodes, in fact the episode of the show that was famous/infamous was SpongeBob's Big Birthday Blowout in Season 12, so honestly I could see it going either way, but considering Nickelodeon is releasing 4 Spongebob movies in the next couple of years, and because of how popular the ip still is, I think it's safe to say Spongebob will stick around for future seasons...

@David well you've got a point there. But here's another thing. I have the first 12 seasons on dvd and I'm still waiting for the 13th to be released on dvd. I'm still debating with myself if I should buy the 13th season on dvd and then just draw the line there and just stick with 13 seasons to rewatch over and over again instead of just buying all seasons at once. I've been collecting the season dvds since season 1 was released. Buy what do you think? Is 13 a good enough amount to stick with?

@@austinandhisfriends I think really depends on the quality of the episodes, if you don't end up liking season 14 then don't buy it, however if you feel like the episodes are good enough to rewatch multiple times, then I say go for it. So I would just say for the other seasons to watch the episodes first and then by the time it comes out on DVD you'd have a strong enough opinion on the season to make it easy to decide if you want the DVD or not

I didn’t mind Dil or Kimi as a kid (granted maybe because I was born in 1995 so I didn’t get to see much of the early episodes and basically grew up with the post 1998 film era) and I still don’t but looking at those final couple seasons it was obvious they were running out of fresh material

Spongebob was first envisioned before I was even born, and the official pilot first premiered in 1999, when I was between 1 to 2 years old. I'm 25 and a father now, and it's mindblowing to me that episodes are still coming out to this day, and that my own son is enjoying it as much as I did at his age. It may not be the same show now that Hillenburg is gone, but it's still making my own kid happy, and that's all that matters.

It’s kind of funny how the show I had an obsession with back in the day turned out to be the longest running nicktoon. The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is actually the cannon ending to the series. Before he passed away, Stephen Hillenburg confirmed that all episodes starting with season 4 take place before the events of the movie.

You're ain't the only one. The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is indeed the true canon ending and us long time fans tend to agree. However we chose to move on from the old times we used to enjoy SpongeBob, once Nickelodeon never want to end its franchise lifespan. I already stopped tuning in to the show at the second half of Season 9, where it undergoes some fatal change in both the characters and the episodes being too looney, insane or nonsensical or perhaps reducing their humanity.

I mean realistically the franchise will definitely be around for another two or three decades thanks to our generation and the Next Generation currently growing up with it, the memes and overall being engrained in pop culture. Now I do think at some point he might be a Legacy character like Mickey and bugs where he's not as relevant but still get new content here and there but that's going to be a while until we get to that point possibly when our kids are adults 😂

I heard about the 4th SpongeBob movie, as well as the new avatar The Last Airbender movie! I'm excited for both! But this is about spongebob! SpongeBob just keeps on going, and he has been doing so for 20-something years! SpongeBob is my childhood, and I'm so glad Nickelodeon is keeping him around! At this point, he's just as iconic as Mickey Mouse, so why not keep him around forever? Am I right?😂
