Spontaneous Visit to a Radio Amateur from my Childhood Country Uzbekistan / Day 1: Samarkand

The spring trip to Uzbekistan - my historical homeland, where I was born and raised. First video in a series. I found an opportunity to go On the Air and meet very friendly local Radio Amateurs. In this video I am visiting Sabir UK8IF.

I cannot wait to see more of the country of your childhood. I am so impressed by this gorgeous city and its rich history. Did you know that here in NY there is at least one restaraurant (maybe two?) featuring the food of Uzbekistan? Yes and I have eaten there and loved it. I think I would do VERY WELL indeed in Uzbekistan!

Of course, I could only assume that there would be an Uzbek restaurant in New York. But I couldn’t have imajin that you even visited it :). Yes, Uzbek cuisine is very tasty. I can cook several national Uzbek dishes. One of the next videos will contain a recipe for pilaf from Ulugbek UK8AFV ;)

That a very nice city. loved the video ! Hear in NY,USA we good record heat wave. local power grid problems. some bad storms . more else where in the USA. The bands have been POOR hear. no real long DX. a lot of NVIS for me. even some 6 meter . 20 meters about the best for us day time. we have ARRL field day soon. maybe you can works some stations all over. 73's
