That bit about the devs going "Well we think" despite evidence to the contrary seems a theme with most people I know talking about their own experience bug reporting. Supposedly a similiar bit about MANPADs with them saying they can't be that agile because they're smaller than Sidewinders and other missiles. Per example.

I play top tier US quite often and I must say that I relegated the HSTV-L to one of my last spawns, it's just so painfully inconsistent having to hit sometimes multiple times a single crew member, or just not penetrating at all breech areas or common weakspots due to the anemic shell, extremely painful.

I agree that this is not a bad tank. However the thing is that even when you are on the top of the skill celling - your performance would be still HEAVILY dependent on random. Current state XM885 should mean "inconsistancy" in any language around the world. You simply cannot rely on it. One time it will one-shot BVM at 1000 meters other time it won't set off the ammo that was directly hit from 50 meters. Every shot is like rolling a dice.

@TankistRazumist Typical vatnik apologist. Let's go point by point. The HSTVL is faster, but it's only by 10kmh. This is not a wide enough gap in performance to warrant a BR gap you are describing. The argument of armor is honesty hilarious considering just how little this matters when facing 600 mm pen kinetic rounds and HEAT warheads with pen in the 800 to 900 mm range. The HSTVL needs a buff, not a downtier. It had anti aircraft capabilites and it needs its faster reload that it does not have in the game. XM855 is also underperforming by quite a bit. Its pen is about 100 less than it should be(there's multiple documents saying it has similar penetration to M774), and its spalling is laughable, to say the least. The 2s38 with it's gen 3 thermals and IRST helicopter and jet deleting capability should be at 10.0 or 10.3. The M3A3 Bradley and Puma should also be buffed and moved up to a similar BR. As for the BMP-2M, it should 10.0, no buff needed. Lastly, you alluded to the Sargent York. This is a decent AA system, but severely lacks the flexibility of the 2S38 fucking miles. Kick Rocks

You could side pen perpendicular to my engine/transmission from point blank so there’s no deviation and somehow my turret ring dies, I’ve had shots that went straight through my driver’s feet (lowest possible pen point so nowhere near the turret) and my turret ring would be knocked out. If I survive the first shot, my turret ring will be broken and I cannot fight back. Also tried to turret ring a type 10 with M829A1…non-fucken-pen

Yeah thats what got me out of top tier battles. You shoot russian breeches, they dont receive any damage, you shoot their guns, volumetric says otherwise. But the thing that definitely upsets me the most is the era. Totally unpredictable, making it unfair. I had kontakt1 eat m829a2 from my abrams, from a flat side shot. This is such an outrageous thing that I was forced to leave toptier for good.

the HSTV-L, from what i can tell from how i and many other play it, and it's overall characteristics, it is an incredible Ambush Vehicle. it is relatively low in height, and thus can be effectively used to basically hide in a Ditch and then open fire on multiple vehicles once thye have passed. use it for Ambushes and Scouting, or to kill crippled targets quickly to help alleviate the focus on a singular target for your team, and you WILL do well almost every match as long as the entire Team isnt AFK.

i love how in gaijin’s mind the core of apfsds ammunition scales with the caliber even tho it doesn’t since for the most part when it comes to low caliber apfsds their cores are the same size the only thing that changes from round to round is the casing and maybe rod length but the diameter stays relatively the same.

Agreed, the double standard that a 120mm that has a 4 second reload (pretty sure it is actually supposed to be a 3 second reload) is fine but a 75mm can't have a lower reload even though it doesn't even do any damage. I wish it was possible to just hack an update into WT that fixes stuff.
