tbh, I think the animation with the ferris wheel is about grief and the "demons"/ "monsters" are that of the multiple stages of grief but also that it can hold us back for doing great things as we believe that apart of us is missing when a loved one passes away, but when it comes to the main creature giving up its "heart"/ the missing piece of the wheel to the boy to complete it, I believe that's meant to be a metaphor that the loved one you/ the father the boy lost will still be with you/him & apart of you/him. E.g. their memory will always live on in your heart... so to simplify this, the animation is about the boy grieving the loss of his dad, but ultimately being reassured that his dad will always be with him. but damn this hit home for me... well probably all of us actually as we've all most likely experienced loss at some point, but its arguably a lot more difficult to comprehend at a young age.

I also have an interpretation as to what the demons in the second film repressented. Some of the pictures showed the dad dressed as a soldier. So maybe the dad is fighting in a war which forces the kid to cope with a lot of anxiety and sadness which is repressented by the demons. :)

I have a theory, so in the beginning they started building the ferris wheel because the dad wanted to do something for fun with his child. But then they soon found out that the kid had a heart disease, and the dad gave his heart to him. The kid sees the demons but actually it's him grieving his father for his death. That monster with no heart is his father and the all disappeared in the end, because he knew the truth and he successfully built the ferris wheel, the only reason the demons came was because he gave up on the ferris wheel.
