Skid and Pump see the return of an "old friend" while trying to prove they can redeem themselves, and can actually be good children to the neighbours and people of the town. Things go wrong as always when their old friend Moloch is causing chaos, and Father Gregor takes action! The newest Spooky Month animation by SR PELO is incredible, and this episode gives us a lot of lore and character development with Skid, Pump, Lila, and other characters in the series! I can't believe the guys from Friday Night Funkin' have this amazing show...

The guy who told skid and pump to get off his lawn has a gold necklace, the cult members also wear a gold necklace. So it's possible that the guy is either a part of the cult or was a member of the cult at some point. Yes, there have been characters with gold necklaces that aren't a part of the cult, however the guy is unhinged and has bandages on him. Also, he's probably important which is why the screen focused on him making a call.

Honestly I have a theory that Skid’s dad did a protection ritual on Skid but disguised it as a sacrifice ritual to the cult (Skid was probably whilst unconscious if true) but Lila walked in, they argued and Skid’s dad told them he was protecting skid, then Lila grabbed Skid and walked out ends up that was the last time she’d ever see him and as the cult realized that he never intended on following some plan as a sacrifice skid was supposed to be and punished his spirt to become a spider while his body remains and found dead. The protection ritual went unfinished so it semi-protects skid while making him a trouble magnet. Also explains a lot like why skid was unaffected by eyes of the universe, why Moloch had to ASK to possess skid and pump vs just possessing them like everyone else like why did he ask unless something was preventing him? Also explains why in the earlier episodes that they were in such dangerous situations but make out of it blissfully unaware. (Ex. Frank Candy van and not kidnapping skid and pump, the clown not killing or kidnapping skid and pump, why the eyes of the universe got along with them instead of being an eltrich horror and why the uncle wasn’t able to get to skid and pump, how before Bob (cannibal demon) got them that every conceivable thing was slowing them down and how conveniently bob almost all the meat but the one they were in, and much more).

Spooky Month really evolved from goofy-highjinx to the hint of a deteriorating family, abandonment issues, and a potential for the entire town to start hating the Spooky kids… It was an amazing episode!

I have a small theory - Moloch didn't leave because back in unwanted guests, Skid and Leela were talking about the "rat" and at some point Leela says "AND YOU GAVE IT A NAME!?" Theory : the reason Skid's dad pictures got teared off, because he got deceased and maybe Lila was the only person live with Skid [doesn't count his grandma because she frickin died in the first episode]

So... A few things, when it comes to this episode of Spooky Month, at least what I picked up on. -"EMOTIONAL" is the right word to describe this episode, since while it has the same wacky bits that were always present in this series, it ended up being rather downbeat as a whole, with Skid's father being absent and Pump's parents not making the time to be there for their children being put in the spotlight. Also, maybe it's just me, but I found Skid and Pump crying over the death of Moloch really said, probably because they never realized that Moloch is dangerous both to them and everyone in town, and they never learned the truth that Moloch doesn't actually care about them. It feels a bit different compared to the possessed Happy Fella doll or Bob Velseb who they played with at first before realizing they were "mean" and fought back against them. All this, on top of Father Gregor chewing Lila out for supposedly letting her son run wild while she went out drinking, leaving her in tears, it just leaves me with a bad feeling inside... I can only imagine that being a good mother is something she worries about constantly, so to have someone actively call out and criticize it, speaking to her worst fears about herself, must be devastating... OH, and the extra detail they introduced here, showing that Dexter had a mother who's been worried about where he's been this whole time, it just adds an extra layer of sadness to someone who was otherwise just another "monster of the week" for the kids to deal with (being the one who possessed the Happy Fella doll). And that was BEFORE it's implied that Moloch basically kills her, too. Sheesh... -On the subject of Moloch, though, I'll admit, I though he was dead when he snapped Dexter's neck while possessing his body, so to see him come back was... well, both surprising but at the same time not surprising, since I guess just because he killed the body he was possessing that doesn't mean he died along with it, since he's a demon and whatnot. It's hard to tell what his ultimate goal is here, though; I suppose he wants revenge on Skid and Pump, though he hangs out around the hospital and lures in Dexter's mom to presumably kill her. It IS cool that we finally get to see what his full body looks like; he's got, like, a flaming oven on his lower abdomen, that's cool. -Father Gregor, there's a fascinating character; he's very strict and stern, but his intentions with Skid and Pump are ultimately well-meaning, even if he comes off as "no fun allowed" sometimes (No candy? Really?). It's also cool to see that he truly is devoted to his faith, and it's because of that devotion that he's able to harm Moloch. It's just kind of a shame that after he's basically saved the town from Moloch, he's immediately kidnapped by the cultists and... supposedly scarified to The Eyes of the Universe? It's hard to tell what it intends to do with Father Gregor, though I'm sure this must blow a whole in his whole faith. Then again, maybe this setting is one of those "Angel, Devil, and Squid" settings, where Biblical stuff exists alongside Lovecraftian stuff. -You know, I noticed the mannequin in Skid's attic always kept moving seemingly on its own in previous episodes, and I was curious if it was a ghost or something living in there... Turns out it was a giant freaky spider that was moving the mannequin. I have a feeling that spider might be the subject of a future episode. -The two thieves being in cahoots with the "Candy Dealer" isn't too surprising, though I'm surprised to see them associated with the cult, moreso the two thieves than the Candy Dealer. Those two guys are in way over their head with this. -I like that the Spooky Month dance is used more in this episode, I felt the last episode didn't use it as much, just a nod to it here and there. I especially love that, for as rigid as Father Gregor is, even he is willing to dance along with Skid and Pump! -You kind of glossed over it, but the one guy dressed as a fisherman who "tried" to scare the police is clearly PsychicPebbles, AKA Zach Hadel, animator, regular member of Oney Plays, and co-creator of Smiling Friends on Adult Swim. Just wanna say, him giving a piss-poor attempt at "scaring" someone and giving up midway through then just walking away is totally something Zach would do IRL. There's probably more stuff to talk about, but I think this comment is long enough as is. Great new episode, well worth the wait!

i never know how to feel about mr frank. on one hand he's a serial kidnapper who sells kids back to their parents for ransom money. (actually that's literally all he does canonically. nothing gross beyond that.) on the other this is a silly cartoon and mr Frank actually seems to look out for Skid and Pump, giving them free treats and rides with no catch. we also see him as a kid in Mrs Lila's photo in episode 5 with both kid's parents so he could very well be a family friend. as fucked up as his serial kidnapping is, could be way worse, compared to the other monsters in this show.
