(26:58) Exactly. Leatherface just doesn't have enough charisma to carry a whole movie by himself. What made the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film such a terrifying experience is the entire cannibalistic family with Leatherface as a side character.

The jumpscare sound is because the sudden loud noise causes a physical reaction that people nowadays mistake for a scare. It's the cinematic equivalent of someone sneaking up on you and shouting "Boooo!" And the only reason for it is because movie people have no idea how to make horror movies... or movies in general, anymore.
@danielshore14574 жыл бұрын
The only jump scares I find acceptable is when they like keep building one up and then don't and then like bam jumpscare (for example, girl in her house keep building up like reflections, looking out the windows, slow suspenseful build up walking down a hallway and then when it seems like nothing is gonna happen then all of a sudden out of nowhere bam jumpscare not a loud noise but just out of nowhere)

It's like if a comedian told a joke, nobody laughed, so he jumps off the stage and tickles you. Follow up with a gottya!!! That'll be 5 dollars and we have modern horror cinema.
@CyberLance264 жыл бұрын
Jump scares have been used to scare people ever since the beginning of history and its only very recently that people have started to say that they are not scary because modern horror movies use them so often these days. Also the reason why we feel fear is so we will be careful and avoid stuff that could be dangerous and the reaction you get by a jump scare is the exact same thing that it warns the body that it could be something dangerous and that you should avoid it or fight it.

7:00 basically the premise of how to summon the Slenderman is simple. Look him up, talk about him, think about him. Slenderman sort of manifests from your own curiosity and mind so the more you look him up, talk about him and think about him. The more you see him and it all snowballs and cascades until his image has driven you mad

The biggest problem I had with Slender Man was the overuse of CGI. There is a scene where I felt, had some minor practical effects been used and touched over with CGI, would have been a massive improvement. If you must know the scene, it's where the SM is shown in the trees and his tentacles are waving through the trees and yet none of the branches are moving. Very simply fishing line here and there in the trees to make some branches move would have been better.
