This video provided me with both some excellent chopping block building skills, but also catastrophic axe envy.

Hello man. I really enojoyed your video and the calmness off it. I am still experimenting with how i should make my videos and people seem to like relaxing videos more than "hyped" up videos :)

Jonasolsenwoodcraft glad you liked it...hell... I've done over 100 videos so far and I gotta say it comes down to many a things to get it right. I really never got a plan... and when I tried... I couldn't stick to it. I make videos in the mood I'm in. In general, good quality of footage and sound are beneficial, which this one wasn't a good example of. I'm trying to stay real and don't make a clown of myself or sound like a tv shop host as it is pretty common at the moment. Cheers for tuning in!

Woodsmans Finest yeah i know. A lot of people fake being over the moon with energy.. i cant do that or wont. I have been looking at popular videos lately and it seems that videos that changes the camera angles often preforms well. I guess the explanstion is that the human attention span is so short

Nice project. You might find it easier to cut the step in the top of the block AFTER you bore the leg holes. That lets you bore with the better support of the flat top.

Do you have another video showing this in use? I'm not clear on what it's for.

I had a huge cedar tree blow down in my back yard. Would cedar work for block?
@woodsmansfinest38144 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid it might be a little too soft mate.

Woodsmans Finest I see cedar butcher blocks for sale online. Hmm

@@sloanIrrigation well you asked me my opinion. And that's the answer... Why don't you just go ahead and try it... What's the worst that could happen?
@imover99993 жыл бұрын
This is asked a long time ago, and I'm not going against WF, but I have heard other carvers suggest softer woods as to not dull the axe as much. It depends on what you're doing, how often, and if you have the ability to replace the block if it gets tore up I think. I've yet to carve, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, just going off what I've heard in the past.

I did it myself with the Woodglut plans. I think this is the best way to find out how to build it.

I have done very similar with Woodglut designs.
