I have been following the method in this video for almost 9 months now, and let me tell you, it is SHOCKING how well it works! I will pull out some cilantro weeks later stored with this method and it tastes and looks amazing! Thank you so much for this video, I had almost given up buying cilantro due to frustration with storage, I didn't think it was possible. It is so nice to have it available anytime I need it. I started using micro-fiber clothes instead of paper towels and it works great too

Been doing this for years...I tend to wash first, then let air dry for a few hours on a cloth towel and then do exactly as you do. For cilantro, you can also cut and freeze the stems which are great for cooking. Regular parsley can also be cut fine and frozen in a jar and used for cooking. Anyhow, nice video and I am subscribing...hope the baby is now enjoying your food!

I hate to waste paper towels, and I was thinking the same thing. Can I lay out my greens, maybe near a fan, and let them dry naturally instead of using paper? Thanks for showing me it does work!

I wash my cilantro when I bring it home from the store. I spin it dry in a salad spinner, towel dry, then put in a jar of water with a paper towel covering it. I place a plastic bag over it and place into the refrigerator. It lasts a long time.

@@gloriaf6971Yes, I wash and spin dry all of my herbs. There's a lot of grit in that herbs. Once I spin them dry I lay them on paper towels loosely and put them in a zip-lock bag and off into the veggie crisper for 2-3 weeks.

Tried this for some fresh curly parsley and some cilantro (coriander leaf) This method works like a charm and now 2 weeks on the fresh herbs are in the fridge in a sealed polythene box and as fresh as the day they went in. I've dipped into them for cooking and it's proving a perfect way to store it and not have to throw any away. Only one parsley leaf turned half yellow in 2 weeks. I call that a great method and thanks for the tip.

Thank you so much for this video. I gave a definite thumbs up! One thing I would like to point out is that you don't have to dry the cilantro/green onion or whatever with disposable paper towels!! My parents always did this with tea towels or hand towels that you just throw in the laundry when you're done. It works wonderfully, just like you show and costs less in the long run. We don't need to be sending so much stuff to the garbage. Thanks again for all the effort you do to show this technique so we aren't sending all this produce to the garbage as well!!! Excellent 👏.

The paper towels won't be "dirty" after use unless the cilantro rots. Barely damp, easy to let dry and use for cleaning. Any kitchen paper towel that I use to dry anything already cleaned gets laid out to dry, only thrown away when it gets soiled.

@@barbra429 I don't wash the mushrooms until it's time to use them otherwise they go bad. Sometimes I give them a little wipe with the paper napkin to get any dirty bits off. I tried cleaning, picking out the bad, then cutting the ends then putting them in ajar of water like fresh cut flowers. This does work and looks pretty, but you need to trim the ends and change the water every few days. My onions, when left long enough would actually grow new sprouts! I’m going to try this method too. I have an apartment sized fridge, so space is limited, but I’ll try it anyway. Thank you for sharing! 😊

This really works. I do slightly different. Like this video, I spread out the cilantro on a wood cutting board (dries better) leave it out for an hour or two turning it over a few times. My kitchen is cool and humid BTW, if ti s warmer times would be less. Once it is 90% dry it goes into zip lock bags in the frig veggie drawer. I only use paper towels if it is super wet and a cold day. A big bunch lasts me two weeks and is perfect until the end. I only remove black stuff. Thanks for sharing this!

I couldn't wait any longer to let you know that this cilantro continues to be fresh and vibrant. I will most likely use it all up by Sunday when I will make a new batch of Pozole and buy more cilantro etc. This is a real game changer for this herb, as it used to rot by the 3rd day. It's sweet because I think of you each time I unravel the paper toweling and harvest what I need for dinner. 🙂

I had to return to say thankyou... my cilantro is still good! Do you have a tip for keeping avocado perfect a little longer? thanks for sharing, enjoy

Yes I do... don't remove the seed (just cut around it) and your avocado will last "a little" longer :-)
