when I was a kid I thought these vids were the coolest things ever, and when I'm hit by a bolt of nostalgia and come back to watch them they still hold up really well. they definitely inspired my young imagination a lot

Here's the story of The Aneri: The Aneri were a powerful technological race, but remained in the 7 systems they colonized long ago. Eventually, these stars begun entering their giant phase as life in these systems slowly begun to die off until only their homeworld of Anu (which orbited a red dwarf) was left. This destruction would be made worse when the Herculosans (a spacefaring species of gliding raptoroids) attacked their home system and left Anu a frigid hell with an atmosphere dense enough to compress water into ice regardless of temperature. In their desperation, The Aneri transplanted their brains into mechanical bodies to survive these harsh conditions before eventually destroying Herculosan civilization (turning the denizens of the last standing world into mere pets with behaviors similar to those in both cats and dogs). But The Aneri were gone, having turned themselves into the Acano. They began to view life as a luxury and started viewing the slaughtering of entire civilizations like we would view the tearing down of an abandoned building. What came next was an era of slaughter in which The Acano would eliminate life on so many worlds that even The Grox feared what they had become, This fear was justified as The Acano viewed them as hideous amalgamations of flesh and machine that had to be destroyed no matter the cost, a cause they have been frighteningly effective towards as they had decreased The Grox's influence from 4,500 systems to just over 2,000, slaughtering ever single Grox regardless of age or prestige.

The original form of The Aneri was what could best be described as Opabinid as they had 6 legs, 4 eyes at the end of an Opabinid trunk, and a radial mouth below the base of the trunk which opened like the lens of a camera. Their mechanical forms were relatively similar to their former bodies from day to day, but would often transplant the data from their brains (which are now 60% digitalized) into a new body made to suit their profession (soldiers have a spaceship like body, artists have long mechanical tentacles to allow multitasking while painting, artisans have long whiplike limbs with smaller tentacles, Etc.).

I did everything here but the music. Tools used were: - Macromedia Fireworks and Flash - Abobe Photoshop - Spore - Windows Movie Maker - Audacity I wish I could make my own music, but i'm not sure I have the talent, and beyond that I lack any software with which to make my own music.

well, looks like red and blue were the last remaining before the nukes launched. Also, at 0:28, are the white-ish areas the nuke's range in terms of blast radius or something (since the bottem-right is a nuke symbol)?

If your wondering how I'd stop them from like... I don't know killing me in the process, I'll just have to persuade them to stop being so hostile and then probrably help find out more about their history. Then I'd probrably pursuade them to use more ecofriendly armour while helping find a cure for their mutated [or F**ked up] bodies. All your creatures rock Luminar! Keep up the good work! Even though alot in the galaxy hate the Xi, I'll make them reconsider!

They remind me of the dark eldar, both races are pirates, both are hated across the galaxy, both use cloning and considers clones to be inferior to natural born, both lost their homeworlds, both are hierarchy based, both attack and don't care about all others races and both are unlikely to be destroyed soon, i wonder if this was a concident or simply influence from the dark eldar
