Well explained, couldn’t have summed it up any better! When I was racing in the mid 90’s (competed at the Australian WSB, at Phillip Island in 96 and 97) I had a spare set of everything (bike included). However I lost (in if of the 3 day events 2 knee sliders on my left knee). A mate, who had a brand new set of leathers (he didn’t race) begged me to use his. I was great full, he was over the moon, as when I gave them back worn he was happy that other riders would then think he new how to ride quick! When he couldn’t, just by looking at both sliders... Memories! Thanks for posting this and I look forward to your next one! 👍😎🇦🇺

I feel comfort is the same level as protection. Theres a reason you wear helmets that always fit just right, they can give you headaches if too tight and not protect right if too loose. gloves that are too tight may cut circulation or gloves that are too big may mess with your touch sensitivity and all of this can cause accidents. So to me they are hand to hand

Very informative and to the point...I personally have 5 pairs of gloves in my rotation, mostly short cuff since I ride mostly street, but all are leather, with palm sliders. When I was young and dumb, I gravitated to the mesh and light weight styles...but now that I'm older and have seen the results of crashes in low/no protection and weak/cheap material gloves, I put the protection factor first...same with rest of my gear (helmets, jackets, pants, and boots). Great content...keep of the good work.

Everybody's different in what gear is right for them and what isn't but this video and your other ones like this will at the very least minimize the amount of money wasted on gear that in the end doesn't work for you. Since dead or disabled men don't ride I'm big on safety so videos like these are much appreciated even for us seasoned riders, so great job. I think my biggest question is; how do you get used to the feeling? Just an example an Alpinestars glove with the knuckle protector is pretty slim but gives great feeling on the throttle! I want the most protection as possible, but I’m wary for a gauntlet style because I’m worried about not being able to even feel the throttle because the glove is to thick. I mean I know racers all wear the gauntlet style, but for a daily rider what would you guys recommend? It’s a tough call like everything else. Comfort over safety:)

While there will always be some variance in the fit when comparing glove models and brands we have seen less of this over the last couple of years than we used to. D30 knuckle protection...or carbon fiber knuckle protection? Which would you recommend? I've heard-tell that carbon fiber knuckle protectors splinter/shatter in a crash, and that d30 knuckle protection can be hit or miss, depending on the design or from whom one buys the gloves. Thoughts?
@sportbiketrackgear3 жыл бұрын
I think either one will get the job done. With the carbon there is padding behind the carbon to protect the knuckles. As for the carbon splintering I have never seen that happen in a crash. - Van
@OttomanBeats2 жыл бұрын
I purchased a glove with lot of padding on in the palm but i hated it. It wont allow me to grip the handle bars properly. My hand feels like its being forced open and its going to slip if i go over a bump. If force squeeze then the knuckle things dig in. This is only an issue on the throttle side. They fit snug . So im wondering if they are to small. Or do you recommend a comfortable glove that’s good for weathers 55 degrees and up.

All technical clothing, as we all know, improves with use because it adapts and adheres better to the shapes of our limbs, torso, shoulders, etc When I go to the tracks I often see motorcyclists using suits, gloves, boots with signs of falling and worn out only because only with them they are better to ride, fewer tight spots, more freedom of movement of the limbs. And having a comfortable suit, comfortable gloves and boots can radically change your riding skill. This I think is the reason why the safety and replacement of motorcycle clothing is neglected.

you have to understand you are not going to slide very far on the street before you hit something whether its the curb or a tree or a lamp post or another vehicle so slide protection is not as essential as riding on the track where you can easily slide over 100meter in a crash. Feel of the controls is also not as essential as track riding as you dont normally go to max braking or max lean on the street. Comfort and impact protection from bugs or rocks at speed is more important for street riding. Durability is also more important for street riding. Track gloves sacrificed a lot of durability for feel by making the palm and finger with much thinner materials.

Have you fallen out with Dainese?
@sportbiketrackgear2 жыл бұрын
We have not sold Dainese for the last handful of years. There were too many issues with service after the sale when our customers had a problem and they were difficult to work with as a dealer. Most dealers do not like working with Dainese. - Van

The Alpinestars GPPro v3 gloves have some of the most ridiculous pinky and ring finger lengths I’ve ever seen. They clearly cut the hand template from someone with a deformity. Look at the Supertechs or most other AStars gloves and the hand template is fine. The last two digits are just so abnormally long on the v3. Also the finger tip plastic bits love to catch on levers. Doubt they would have any real world use. They only serve to bulk up the thickness of the fingers.

Here is an example of why we need choices. Max and I both like the R3 gloves and I am not a fan of the Supertech glove. - Van

@@sportbiketrackgear I didn’t buy the supertechs because of your video! Btw totally agree about the palm. All 3 times I’ve gone down the sliders always have been scuffed. Which makes me more upset about the fingers of the gp being for goblins :)

Go pro r3 vs. racer high racer vs handroid…. HELP?!??! 🤯
@sportbiketrackgear2 жыл бұрын
The Racer will provide the most feel of those listed while still offering plenty of protection. As you would expect the GP Pro R3 is a nice glove (Max has raced in them plenty). The Handroid provides some additional protection but you do sacrifice some feel. - Van
