Mike, you did a great job describing many of the features of the SportCruiser. A couple of areas that you didn't mention were things like Cruiser Aviation's post sale delivery and support in transition, the fact that most of the components in this aircraft are tried, tested, reliable, are easy and are inexpensive and easy to maintain or update. There are some real benefits to flying a Light Sport aircraft like looser medical standards as well as the ability to perform some routine maintenance items yourself like oil changes yourself, for example. A word of caution, however: Flying this airplane is Addictive. On a relative basis cost/hour is very low. In the LSA department, there are enough Sportcruisers and Rotax engines around to find knowledgeable and competent A&P's for maintenance and repairs and to obtain parts when needed. My experience with the Cruiser Aviation and my Sportcruiser has been outstanding.

I'm quite frustrated with a lot of things. This is a nice looking plane and I essentially want one but I also have so many thoughts about how so many products could be made better and lower cost. I'd like to see a tandem config beautiful plane. Much better aero than side by side, smaller canopy thus simpler and cheaper to make. Smaller engine will do. It becomes lighter so it's better in the air. The tail fins seem too thick and large too. Just a fiber blade sticking back would do. Vertical stabilizer shouldn't really be tall. It should be back. It's a drag and height means roll forces.

Joao, the base price for the sportcruiser is $143K which comes with with plenty of standard options and leather seating. A decked out model with full glass, brs parachute and puffed leather seating, like the one in the video will put you closer to the $180k mark or more.

Great little airplane except for a few things i wish they would fix. The canopy latch is junk. Just a flimsy metal tab that is prone to bending when the innefective lift supports drop the canopy on the frame. The receiving hole is then chipped away at. Poor design. Next fail is the cowling design. The rotax is a half air cooled engine and this set up gets very warm on the ground unless you rev it up and point it into the wind. Two air inlets on either side of the nose cone would do wonders. The air inlets on the top of the cowling are useless in climb when the relative air blows right over them. A study was done and still no action on this one. The heater is almost completely useless even after you've taped off the air inlets. This plane flies well if you're based at sea level but its a real dog at altitude in the climb especially with 2 onboard. Would be a perfect setup for the 914 instead of the 912. For the money a Bristell is a much more well built aircraft. Get a SC used...definitely not worth the retail price.
@JoshScheid075 жыл бұрын
Hey Captain, thanks for the comments. It's funny you should mention both the canopy and the cowling because Czech Sport has solved both of these issues you refer too. The first being the canopy latching, this was more a problem of the canopy having a hard time lining up with itself upon closing, usually from asymmetrical force being placed on it. This was easily corrected with a brilliant little clip that keeps everything aligned, no more chipping or bending. The cooling issue that some experienced was more of an exhaust issue than a lack of cool air into the cowling. Again CSA redesigned the lower cowling to allow the warm air to escape better, thus solving the cooling issues some owners were experiencing. Both of these new features come standard on the new airplanes, and they didn't raise the price. Simply increasing the amount of value our airplanes give their owners. Also, existing owners can order these parts to correct any issues on their existing airplanes. When it comes to power I think everyone would love more power, but remember these are designed as LSA's. And a bigger engine means more weight, then less room for fuel, payload, and other cool features. There is always a trade of though. If you'd like to learn more please feel free to drop me an email, josh.scheid @ CruiserAircraft . com

Really cool airplane! I would love to try one one day! I am wondering though: First of all, the obvious question: How much with and without the extra? Also, being manufactured in Europe (if I understood well), are parts for the airplane easy to get? And are they usually less expensive than what manufacturers like Cessna charge? How easy is it to find mechanics that are qualified on their engines? Looking to buy my first airplane so I have a lot of questions! Thank you!

Hi, Mike! I am an Architect, and I am on my way to become an ATP, I need a plane to build my time, do you think the airline recruiter will take it seriously if I build my time mainly by this sport cruiser? Random thought on this video; when you have a parachute, which is a great addition (I would have a bare minimum chute for the person as well, 3m2 is enough to live and weighs nothing) but when a plane has a parachute it also needs to be waterproof. Because what good is setting down on the sea if it's going to sink in a minute and you do from hypothermia anyway. Not to mention saving the costly plane. With a fiberglass plane, it is more than readily possible to make it waterproof enough to float so that's how it should be. I like metal to some extent but until we can 3D print it for production, rivets are just ugly and crude. Titanic was 100 years ago.

These small planes have fantastic engineering and design. But, why not go outside that sport aviation market. Take the same airframe and install a 300hp motor or put some tiny 200hp jet engines on it. Increase the fuel capacity. They are already a rich man's toy. Make the plane very high performance or at least, give the potential buyers more advanced options.
