Bobby, the Rotax 912 ULS has a gear reduction of 2.47:1... Engine RPM at Cruise is usually around 5100 rpm where Peak Torque and Horsepower curves intersect. Nice stuff. The early Rotax issues revolved around the 2 Stroke motors, NOT the 912 series.... The 4 Stroke Rotax has been a Bullet Proof engine for years.
@mr.ginnationfunlifestyle38914 жыл бұрын
Fred Weaver it depends on the aircraft and propeller, cruise between 4.800 and 5.100 rpm I would say. The best way to operate the 912 is regular fuel.

Your comment about curves intersecting is really strange, since the curves don’t use the same units... And their scales are set to fit the same diagram, basically. Power is just the torque multiplied by the rotation speed, so...

Sometimes KZbin gets things correct when it recommends videos. I’ve been looking at getting an LSA. I’m currently a LS student pilot, (flying the Remos GX) with only the two XC flights left to do before check ride. With a 14yr old son wanting to start learning how to fly next year, going the LSA route will save me thousands of dollars in training/plane rental, as you can do all your ratings in one. I have my eyes on a SportCruiser and the Bristell. This Viper looks really similar. Good looking airplane. I’m for sure going to look into these a bit more. Thanks for the video.

Awesome! Glad this video was helpful for you! Yeah if you are training a few people it might be way cheaper than renting!
@OMG_No_Way5 жыл бұрын
Flying Doodles SportCruiser is $25ph operating cost. I’m sure this Viper is right in that range as well. And you heard how much less maintenance is with the Rotax. Just makes more financial sense with two students in the family. You can do all your ratings in a LSA as well, except ME, obviously. LOL. Once you own one it’s just the $60ph for an instructor. So almost half the price of renting 172 with a CFI. Times that by 2 and the savings are immense. Again, thanks for the video. Good looking airplane.

@eagleinternationalaircraft90535 жыл бұрын
Hi, the Viper has many advantages compared to the Cessna(152,172), for example,the fuel consumption of the Viper (4.5 gallons per hour) is lower than that of the Cessna (7-8 gallons per hour). The Viper comes with a ballistic parachute, which Cessna does not posses. Overall, the Viper is a lot more modern and advanced airplane and it is equipped with modern avionics and the pricing reflects that. Viper is more affordable than most other LSA brands in the same configuration. For more information, feel free to visit our website eagleaircrafts.com.

Then it's suddenly a very practical traveller, not just a retirement stroller or colonial adventurer.

Sport Pilot has just about been the kiss of death to entry level light aircraft. You can't get training because no one wants to pay 100K for a training aircraft with a limited training base. So, many Sport Pilot trainers are WW II vintage hand prop trainers. I can go to my local airport for a Private ticket. The closest Sport Pilot training is at least 150 miles and for a good full time structured program, probably 350 miles.. Part 103 aircraft (vehicles) are making a comeback, but again, it is difficult to get training because you have to have a Sport Pilot approved aircraft (min 40K plus outrageous insurance). Twenty hours minimum training sounds good, but most require a good bit more. Younger people can usually pass a medical so instructors urge them to get a ppl. Thanks for showing the range of aircraft Bobby. It's not your fault the FAA turns anything simple into simply impossible.

I thought the video showed it opening with the hinge on the forward part of the canopy. Am I wrong? There are lots of LSA's with the canopy that opens with fwd hinge so I was possibly seeing what my brain expected me to see.
@DSC8005 жыл бұрын
@@jimbiller9682 yeah, it opens backwards and it latches on each side, you can see it in the video. Glad that there are two latches, but boy, if you forget it could go bad. There are multiple points at which you are reminded to secure the canopy. First is following the checklist and second is when you turn on the screens it will remind you to secure the canopy. I'm not a big fan of Rotax. HOWEVER, it should be noted that sometime in the year 2014, they sold the 50,000th Rotax 912 engine.... that's a LOT of engines compared to ANY other piston manufacturer. While they are widely accepted, and they seem to have resolved their reliability issues all sorted out (horror stories from the 1980's, when they first released the 912 series are bad memories that refuse to die) .... they are quite expensive, especially if you want one with the modern technologies like fuel injection. I guess nothing is free... Compare a 912 vs. a factory new continental 0-200.... price is similar, but the O-200 is heavier. I'd still take the O-200 ANY day (if the plane can handle the extra 25-30 lbs under the hood).

Okay hold on, you get a private pilots license to fly it but then you never have to get a medical?

@@FlyingDoodles Bobby, if you get to Chicago you should meet up with 310 Pilot as well. The resulting videos could help both channels. Laura and Kevin's wife Jamie could generate an exceptional number of views.

Hi Brandon, a new Viper SD4 is actually more affordable than most other LSAs in the same configuration.

Can it do aerobatics?
@eagleinternationalaircraft90535 жыл бұрын
LSA category doesn't allow aerobatics.

Beautiful aeroplane. Pity it was badly piloted throughout the flight. It needs a much more deft touch and control. Lovely lines and a whole lot more economical than the conventional small GA singles.

How come we don't have that kind of rules here in Canada? I can drive a truck , a car or even a motorcycle. But not a small airplane ,not even a powered parachute!!
@MrZrryan25 жыл бұрын
we have something similar.... similar.... but different. Look into Cat 4 medical (with Transport Canada) and what all you can do with that. CAT 4 is self-certified, and, you can fly quite a few FACTORY built airplanes on a CAT 4.... it is worth looking into ! Also, you can fly advanced ultralights.... there are options. (but NO, the rules are not the same as the USA. I think the Canada rules are better)
@Manu-bk7gh5 жыл бұрын
@@MrZrryan2 If I was in the USA, my airplane would fit in the LSA category,,,, no medical need . I'm supposed to live in a free country. the only freedom we have is to obey the rules or do what you have to do illigaly!!
@MrZrryan25 жыл бұрын
@@Manu-bk7gh again, you really should research CAT 4 medicals, AND, if that's not your thing, research Advanced Ultralight catagory. You will be surprised at how much freedom you have...

@@MrZrryan2 I understand what you're trying to tell me , I did ask for a CAT 3 or 4 since my airplane is register as a basic ultralight and I've been refused!!
@MrZrryan25 жыл бұрын
@@Manu-bk7gh that sucks.... I'm sorry. As a BASIC ultralight, you know that you need NOTHING for a medical, right? Go fly ! Just do not take any passengers.

Safe? Not sure I like the idea of sitting behind all those parts turning 5,000 rpm for 3+ hours!!! And alcohol boils off at altitudes this thing can fly. Bobby? How comfortable did you feel!!!
