Actually I figured out why the mirror was crashing in to the base. The black inner frame where the stop indents are for some reason was worn about an 8th of an inch. Now since you can’t just buy that part without purchasing an entire mirror unit. I figured out a great hack repair to correct the issue. Now it no longer hits. I know it is not a big deal on the non painted mirror housings, but on the painted ones it will wear the paint off the edge of the housing. My OCD kicked in and I had to solve it. Once again thank you for taking the time to make the video. It was a life saver for me.

3rd time i used this video. First time I used the cheap replacement motor. The second 2 times I purchased the Gruven Motors with metal gears. This video is invaluable in replacing the folding mirror motors. Thank you so much for taking the time to do such an in-depth video. Only complaint I have on the Gruven motors is they fold the mirrors in so tight it chaffs the paint off of the mirror body where it comes in contact with the base. I installed PPF on the mirror body and the the point it comes in contact with to minimize that issue.

Here is the entire mirror assembly on Amazon that fits: amzn.to/3q1LVF9 Here is the Gruvenparts page that I mention in the video. According to them, this will work with your year Acadia. But you have to decide if you are willing to do the installation/modification and to what extent. If it's too difficult - then you probably should just buy a replacement mirror & get it painted to match: www.gruvenparts.com/gruvenparts-com-strengthened-spur-gear-for-2007-gm-trucks-folding-mirror-assembly/

What do you mean if you changed the gears only you need different wiring because the motor you bought comes grounded?? I tried to replaced gears only but there seems to be a short were the mirrors won’t work when mounted but work while just hanging off the wires.
@TheRealWorld7373 жыл бұрын
Straight from the Gruvenparts page that I have linked in the description.. "* You Cannot Just Install a Metal Gear Without Also Changing The Motor To The GruvenParts INTERNALLY GROUNDED MOTOR ! You Will Short Out the Body Control Module. All Of Our Kits Come With New Motors Which Are Internally Grounded and Work With Metal Gears - So Don't Just Replace the Gear, You Must Replace Both Gear AND Motor When Going to Metal !!! ** (Stock gears have plastic - replacement gears have metal. So, the wiring has to be different in the motor itself because GMC wired the motors with plastic internal parts. When you place a metal gear inside - then it grounds it the wrong way and creates a short. Gruvenparts has this on the ordering webpage - as I've copied and pasted above). See the link below: www.gruvenparts.com/gruvenparts-com-strengthened-spur-gear-for-2007-gm-trucks-folding-mirror-assembly/
