www.sporting-scene.com. Jimmy Younger is one of the last true professional fly-dressers, with 40
years experience behind him. His career started with Redpath of Kelso in 1955, then with Wm. Robertson of Glasgow and Sutherland Fly in Helmsdale. He then spent seven years in Hong Kong as tutor/manager of a large fly-dressing company.
Returning to Scotland, he and his wife Gloria set up their own business in Durness Sutherland, before moving to Torthorwald, Dumfries in 1979.
Jimmy has over the years written many articles on fly-dressing for various magazines, both home and abroad, and his work has been featured in many books on fishing and fly-dressing.
In this first programme on classic salmon flies, Jimmy, with Osbourne McMinn, dresses some of the more basis classic Feather-wing flies.
Including: Sweep, Lady Amhurst, Thunder & Lightening, Silver Wilkinson
and Carron. Each fly is tied in Jimmys traditional Scottish style, which has earned him the reputation of one of the finest fly-dressers in the world.
