Sporting Trials cars Blasting Action from the NPTCC/ BTRDA

A compilation of shots from Sporting Trials run by the Northern Phoenix Trials Car Club in Cumbria.
Sporting trials regulations ban LSD or locked diffs. Only a choice from 3 road-pattern tyres are allowed.
This is to make skill the prime requirement, keep the Hills safer, and prevent big cheque-books from winning. Tyre pressure are a minimum of 3 psi.
The clips are chosen for their use of the 'blasting' technique as opposed to the 'trickling' technique.
Some clips are in mono sound and come across slightly quieter.

What a fun way to get into racing at a lower economic price. I think I would wear a good MX helmet.

Many people wear helmets. Injuries are pretty uncommon. It's not a speed event. Cars can roll over or tip over backwards just due to the steepness of the hills.

Where do I find plans to build one? What motors are used?

Don't even think of building one until you have competed in an old car. The requirements are so alien to normal competition cars that you will make too many mistakes if you try to build one. Have a look at facebook.com/groups/4902783218/ Motors are free up to 1650cc, petrol, 4 stroke. Most people use alloy engines. Suzuki, Honda, Peugeot, K series. Steel are just too heavy. Free and open diffs. Tyres from a list. Many people use LPG. Some new cars are £30K. Older ones from about £3K if you want a good, useable runner.

Old men don't need helmets!

Their brains have shrunk so are at less risk. It's not a Speed Event so helmets are not mandatory. More people are starting to wear them.
