As someone who LOCKS UP taller/bigger players as a smaller player, the only time you’re truly a defensive liability out of your control when you get matched up with a large, talented player in the post. On the perimeter, anyone, at the very least, can be an on-ball & help defense PEST. It’s all about effort, quick feet and overly active hands.

Only facts spoken. My little brother is about 5’8 and has the craziest work ethic ever and is a lockdown defender. He can score the ball, not at a too efficient clip but his defense is what people are looking at him as he goes through his high school years. He can guard most players from 1-4. It’s all about work ethic and how bad you want it and he plays like if he gives up a basket, he’s giving up his life

As a Knicks fan of over 20 years , I would love to have Isaiah Thomas on our team , he's a team leader , he gives 100% effort and he's a team first guy. I would draft Cole Anthony ( Greg's son ) and hire Coach T , I would also sign Iman Shumpert (SG) , Jeff Green (SF / PF) , Myers Leonard (C) + Serge Ibaka (C) and trade for Draymond Green (SF - PF)
@Willrobinson3824 жыл бұрын
I think people forget that Thomas was asking for a max contract before Boston traded him. Boston didn’t want to pay him that much money. He brought some of it on himself for demanding that much money. It was a smart move by Boston to trade him when he still had value.
@alexjames47704 жыл бұрын
Actually if I remember correctly, Ainge and Thomas agreed to push off his extension so they could add Horford. (Since if he signed a max deal, they wouldn’t be able to sign Horford, Bc teams are limited to 2 max FAs) Basically Thomas sacrificed $100m, his hip, and his time to mourn his sister for Boston, and they traded him for 8 months of a disgruntled toxic Kyrie.

@natecruz71144 жыл бұрын
Those 28ppg came strictly because he was getting a majority of the possessions thrown his way and the offense was catered towards him. We are talking about a guy that averaged 12 Points on 50% TrueShooting and started for the Wizzards... At least take a look at him... The worst case scenario was: He becomes that random dude you throw in during a playoff series just to shake thinks up and he makes 3 threes in 90 seconds... Somehow Isaiah Thomas is so damaged, that the Clippers didnt even talk to him about the "Will you join us an play 5-15 Minutes for us" option...

Ainge has two Isaiah like rookies on the roster in Tremont Waters and Carsen Edwards, both are not NBA ready yet. The Celtics could still use Isaiah this year as a spark off the bench, especially with all the current injuries. With a healthy roster his role would be limited since he can't effectively play next to Kemba (especially on defense), but still an upgrade on the roster.
@notreallyadog96464 жыл бұрын
What exactly did they do to him? Trade him for a better player? Did you expect them to open their checkbooks when he was both injured and had inferred he was going to go for the highest offer as a free agent? As a Knicks fan, i see why you'd think that, but no, we're much better off without him. I like him and think he deserves a chance, he'd just be a terrible fit in NY. First of all, all our PG mins are and should continue going to Payton and Frank (both haven't hit their primes yet and have some flashes of potential). And on top of that, his play style is a terrible fit with us. We don't need a scoring PG at all-- we need a well rounded pg who can play defense and get others involved. We have too many ball hogs (Bobby port is especially) taking away shots from guys like Damyean Dotson, Kev Knox, and even RJ Barrett at times. We don't need Isaiah taking more opportunities away from our long term pieces, which is why we absolutely will not sign him.
