Marshall Fogel is the man who owns the most desired Mickey Mantle rookie card in existence. At the time when he purchased the card, most people thought he was insane to purchase such a thing for roughly $130K. Today we know the card is priceless and fetches a conservative $40 to 50 million. Now, he admitted to Geoff that he didn't care if there were more of them out there; all he wanted was the one he purchased. The reason I remind everyone about this story is to prove a point. We are kids at heart, through and through. Marshall's story is the same story for this entrepreneur who just bought his holy grail. It's moments like this that define who we are and what makes this hobby so great. Be bold and courageous and always take calculated risks when the outcome will improve the quality of your life.

@ant4613 Жыл бұрын
It's a lot easier not to be overly attached to anything in the PC when you have people coming up to you with insane offers for your cards lol. If you're into cards to sell/flip/profit only, then it's a good lesson to learn, but if you're into cards for the love of it as well, then it is good to have a PC/have a few cards that you're not willing to part with for your own reasons.
@ACD1994 Жыл бұрын
I mean if it's a PC item, and you don't want to sell something. No need to. There are some who are just strictly collectors, and while flippers serve their purpose I guess, not everything has to be an investment. Geoff is in that 1 to 3 percent, who can just buy pretty much any card when he wants, but most people are not in that luxury.

I thought that was a great trade for Geoff. There’s still some risk with modern and active players/cards. Vintage baseball wasn’t mass produced like today on top of no potential scandals coming out of a deceased Ruth and Mantle. My only objection is that grading them (BGS only) they gave me an A when I tried to make a rare back and MJ visible (MJ on front, back on back) because I had to bend internal pages to make it happen.) I only got one 8, of the few I subbed because I sold all of the initial ones when I realized there was a supply glut. My real regret was putting one signed by Woolridge (guy on the front) for sale and it sold way too cheap.
