Another great vid. Biggest takeaway for me I guess with an Ultra Modern card I'm sending in is to take other cards from the same set to compare the centering or other 10s selling online of the same card to decide if is worth submitting. In the past i've paid the most attention to the Corners, Edges and surface and just eyeballed the centering and made a judgement.
@jimmy2thymes9163 жыл бұрын
I've never graded a card because I don't exactly trust my own "eye" just yet. My local card shop has some guy that comes in to give advice on what cards will be graded if sent in....which sounds like a complete racket. "Shoot, that Lebron looks like an 8...but we'll buy it from you for PSA 9 prices."
@Eaglesfan2203 жыл бұрын
@@jimmy2thymes916 I have a 10x Jewelers loupe and a Magnifier Lamp I've been using since last year. Much better results than when I just used a cheap magnifier and just judged card with the eye. Just throwing away money if you dont invest in some equipment especially with the submission costs now. Plus using equipment and finding flaws not seen by the eye that could bring the grade down just helps in me decide weather to sell it Raw or grade. In alot of cases its better to sell Raw than get it graded a 9.

Are there any videos like this from other grading companies? This was extremely helpful and really encouraging as I had been hesitant to pick up some SGC cards, that I had interest in but was feeling in the dark on the grading. I had an initial negative reaction to SGC because, when I returned to collecting, I only knew PSA and Beckett This was extremely helpful and now has me questioning how the big two actually approach their grading. This was like a 180 flip, going from no confidence to full confidence because the thought process behind the grading was explained. There is something to be said for being open about a process when you are asking people to trust it. If anyone can recommend videos from the big two that explain their process and general view of what actually makes a good or bad card, it would be appreciated.
