As an Aussie I think it’s hard to explain to non-Aussies the deep admiration and affection we have for the West Indies as a cricketing opponent. If you grew up in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s in Australia, those WI teams were like the Harlem globetrotters, larger than life and just a massive part of cricket and the summer in Australia. Other countries wouldn’t realise how happy it would make Aussies to see the windies firing again. It’s almost like reliving your youth again. Just amazing memories of those classic windies teams. There wouldn’t be a cricketing fan alive who doesn’t want the windies back as a force. We hope you springboard from here. 👍👍

That is the greatest individual bowling display in WI cricket history. To see a young man running through the crease, grunting at the point of delivery while bowling at top speed with a clean classical action. That was magical and brought tears to my eyes.

I am an Australian, and I loved watching the series, Shamar is amazing, a bowler to build an attack around for sure. But we need to have a look at the whole team performance. The 3 50's in the first innings gave Shamar and the attack something to bowl at. With out Hodge and de Silva doing what they did, this would have been a walk over. Shamar won the match without a doubt. But de Silva, Hodge and the late runs from Sinclair set the match up. I am so happy that WI Cricket is gaining traction after all these years. If ICC could give you as many test matches as England, you guys will be the dominant Team in a few years.

One of the greatest moments in cricket history. The young bowlers efforts in both tests have been inspiring and quite superb . His length and sheer pace really rattled the Aussies. I’m Aussie and it was an absolute pleasure to watch. From memory his debut wicket was smith and he never looked back. His second innings spell , after what must be an incredibly painful and debilitating injury , was pure heat and absolutely blistering. 150 km thunder and amazing control with his Yorkers had the Aussies in all sorts. God knows how he’ll go fully fit with some more experience. As a bonus he presented as brilliantly off field as he did on , wth good humour, character , humility and a bit of larrikin mischief. Amazing to have watched. …………As an aside having just heard this incredibly disappointing news re Tim Paine and Alf. Like Paine hasn’t fallen far enough. Hardly a moral or ethical yardstick . Fark tim Paine and anyone criticising langer and gilly. If statesmen like them aren’t there for that advice and support, then what good are they. Should W.G and other founders not have spread the cricket gospel and kept it all in house. How myopic , disrespectful and misrepresentative of the history of the game. The batting was commendable as well. Although not as explosive as Shemar's bowling exploits, you must realize that it was the total accumulated in the 1st Innings by the resolute WI batters which made the 2nd Test victory possible! If the WI team had been dismissed for a dissppointing total, the result might have been a replay of its defeat in the 1st match!

Agree with the sentiments expressed about Australia. They are fierce competitors on the field but also class acts when it comes to appreciating good cricket. I believe some of their greatest memories came from test series with the Windies and there is a level of respect between the two team that is based mostly on that history.

I'm happy that this was a 2 test series and not a 3 test series with a deciding game, as a possible loss of the 3rd test and therefore series, would have totally overshadowed what the young Windies lads accomplished in this game. MCC decided cricket would be played in ‘a gentlemanly manner’, which means no sledging, cheating, bodyline bowling , temper tantrums or excessive appealing. MCC decided If the batsman knew he was out, he should walk even if the umpire decided otherwise. This is what Fazeer Mohammed is going to explain to Mariah! Mariah innocently believed, Pat Cummings praising Shamar Joseph and West Indies, was the interpretation of a gentleman game, which it is not, but I believe it should be included! Yet again, Fazeer Mohammed showing his class. We all know that Stone-age behavior persists among the Ian Healy’s of this world. Adam Gilchrist is a cut above, class sportsman. JL, even, showing an understanding of how important it is to have a quality opposition from the West Indies. World cricket is stronger with more competitive teams than the big 3. Sometimes you have to neutralize your bias for the benefit of the game. To see Adam Gilchrist congratulate Brian Lara while Ian Smith fist-pumped was glorious. At the end of the day, we are not going to be judged on performances with bat or ball, rather over all. Long live proper sportsmanship.

Congrats to WI and Dessi Haynes. His policy of investing in pace is great. The batting on the other hand is woeful. Take away the Shamar Heroics and we have not gone anywhere. We made 1 score over 300 and only had 4 half centuries not 1 century. Shamar was not even a part of the original plan he was plucked out of nowhere. The fielding improved the bowling was good but we lack batters. This is the 1st era that WI does not have a world class batter a star like Sobers Richards Lara Chanderpaul. A person who avg over 50. This just covers up the terrible batting.
