The Windies batters need to step up and perform now. They need some consistent century makers and at least 2 star batsmen to really become consistently competitive again.

Good point by Bish. I remember watching a conversation between one of the great Caribbean writers, Earl Lovelace and Michael Manley, former PM of Jamaica. Manley talked about a proposal that Allan Rae, the former WICB president had written, where the regional governments would contribute, of course by ability, to a regional fund which would be used by the WICB to contract 15-20 players each season, a ort of precursor to the retaining contracts system we have now. The purpose of the contract was to have them contracted to the West Indies, while giving them a means of dignified existence in the off season. I think that proposal can still work because even though we have the retaining contracts, it clearly isn't enough to stop players from wanting to play in every league. The CWI also needs to acknowledge that it CANNOT deal with the players with a my way or the highway attitude. Players have serious options now. The presidents before Ricky Skerrit and Kishore Swallow didn't or didn't want to understand that and their bullishness weakened the team, almost to the point of oblivion

What the hell you are talking about, it seemed like you are very envious of the players them money. That they are making playing in other leagues, because they pay more money. If you strongly believe that be loyal to the wicb ,you are making a very big mistake. Why do you think people from all over the world is killing themselves, to go to the United States. Because they are looking for opportunities, that is why people from all over the world is trying to get there at any cost. Why you didn't complain when Lloyd took the wi team to Australia 🇦🇺 during, a test series. Because they were offered more money to play in the Kerry Packer league, in Australia 🇦🇺. I have seeing all of you people complaining about, these younger generation is playing in the T20 leagues around the world. Because they are trying to make a living and, some of you people is very envious of the guys them money. Do you and your haters them, is going to take cares of those players. Who got the chance to make some money for their future, are you crazy. Talking all these stupid things about who came up ,with contracting certain amount of players off season. So what happens to the majority of players, how they are going to live off what. When they have no other source or income, to support themselves and families. Some people is just grudgeful and bad mind,they does not want to see some people strive in life. How many players that the wi cricket team used at a time, so what happens to the rest of players them future. They need money to survive in life, it is full time that the people them should grow up now. Because it is not these T20 players them, bring the wi team to this low level of competition. It is players like, Lara,Bishops, Jimmy Adam's, Carl Hooper, Courtney Walsh, Curtly Ambrose, Benjamin's, Keith Authorton, captain Richie Richardson, Phil Simmons, just to mention a few of the players. Who playing in 1995 at Sabina Park Kingston Jamaica 🇯🇲, when Australia 🇦🇺 beaten them. To become the world champion, so why blaming these T20 players them for the downfall of the wi cricket. You hypocrites and biased people stop blaming, T20 cricket leagues around the world. For the downfall of the wi cricket, you should put the blames on those former legendary players and. Big up the T20 players them, because they won 2 world championships trophies competition for the wi people them and. You are not satisfied and, bigging up players like Bishops, Hooper and Ambrose just to mention a few of them. Who never won nothing for the wi team, more than lower the standards of the team. Because they cannot show one world cup championship trophy and, the players them who won 2 T20 championship trophies competition and, one ICC cricket championship trophy. Those players won 3 world cup championship trophies competition and, they are getting all the blames.Just to show you the type of hypocrisy also biasness, against the T20 players them. Who brought something for the wi people them to cheers about, these people must be very crazy. They does not know what they want in life, they just full of shit like white crabs. What the hell Bishops know more than anybody else, more than chat a bag of trash. Because he was playing in the match at Sabina Park Kingston Jamaica 🇯🇲 in 1995,when Australia humiliated the wi team to be the number one test team of the world. So what is those players excuses that, Courtney Browne dropped Steve Waugh and. He went on to scored double hundreds, in the wi innings. They batted like some schoolboys just learning, to play cricket. I know that they have a lot of cyber bullies out there, but I don't worry about them. Because they are all hypocrites and biased against the truth,there is nothing can beat the truth, ok.

As an England fan, but mainly a test cricket fan, I found myself checking the score from Australia early last Sunday morning before I checked the score from India. Two exciting test matches, but I was delighted that the young West Indies team pulled off that remarkable victory. Inspirational stuff from the whole team and high class fast bowling from Shamar Joseph. I had a feeling on Saturday that West Indies (and England) could win against the odds. Test cricket at its very best.

The solution for Test cricket is to change the way it is done. I would change the way each team bats. Instead of batting until the team loses 10 wickets or declares, I would change that to each team batting 100 overs or whatever is decided, or gets bowled out before the 100 overs or how many is agreed upon. In this way you would always get a result, no drawn test matches. This would make test cricket more appealing because it would not be 5 days of boring cricket on flat tracks, every match will have its own drama.
@armstronglaborde
@armstronglaborde 5 ай бұрын
Mind you not all drawn matches are boring but many are very exciting. But you have to be a real cricket fan to appreciate that. Sometimes both teams and fans are hoping that the environment can interrupt play because niether team wants to lose since the match is delicately poised. Or when lower order batsmen have to bat out the remaining overs to save the match. And the spectators cheering every ball that they survive. So not every match desires a result . A draw is considered better than a lost. That is why it is called a "test" match.

India needs to take a accountability for its actions, they control cricket they are the ones with the deep pockets... Something seriously needs to change. What if all the smaller nations comes together and form their own "ICC" funds are spread equally. Exclude the big 3...lets see how far they will come playing just each other. Something really needs to change
@runforrestrun1965
@runforrestrun1965 5 ай бұрын
They pretty much just play themselves anyway. Keeps the money within the big 3 and ensures their viewership continues. The big 3 only play smaller nations occasionally, very rarely anything more than a two test series, yet every year we have to see the 5 ashes tests, yawn. ICC needs to apply a levy to the big 3 or whenever an ICC event like the World Cup is held to have funds to allocate to the rest and even the playing field, but that’ll be impossible to achieve without agreement from the 3. Why would they support growth in the game when it suits them the way it is.

Listening to all these excitement about the lucky win of the wi team, it was Australia 🇦🇺 gave them the game and. The wi team just capitalized on it, because which team in the world. Would declared and giving another team the lead, with so wickets in hands. Where they could give the wi team a first inning lead, I would call that a very stupid idea. The just got a chance and they capitalized on it, I am really giving the team no credit as such. The team performed very poorly in the 2nd innings, I was watching the game and. The Australian players them under rated the wi team, it is only Steve Smith was taking the game more serious than the rest of them. He batted right throughout the inning not out, but the rest of them played around. Bishop should ashamed of them damn selves, because they were there and. Left the cricket in total disarray, so I don't really see all the excitement about. Because the wi team does not won the series, for them to behave like that. Because the wi team is still very, very weak, most of the players them should be driving against England.

Give credit where credit is due. Everything must be in its specific context. The Windies, an inexperienced team, with 7 out of 11 players being debutantes...were the underdogs. Nobody expected them to win...they were looking for a whitewash. Astralia as World rated top team got cocky and arrogant in the 2nd test...that's why they made the decisions that they did....all credit to the Windies for believing in themselves, out-bowling the opposition and making the best of the game situation. They displayed great tenacity and self belief and it paid off. I hope that this performance will inspire the team to sow seeds of hope and a new determination to keep climbing. Our batters need some self confidence..and I hope they start to see the possibilities and go after them.

@@Angelwings886 the toxic comment comes from a demented mind. Give the W.I team credit. Cummins declared with one wicket standing in the Assie first innings. He action further highlighted the general disdain and disregard the WI team was treated with and quite frankly it's typical of how cocky Australian cricketers are. Kudos to the Windies for a great effort. They really put their everything into this match.

@@Angelwings886 I don't strongly believe you understand the intricacies about cricket at all, because I don't see where no credit is due here. Australia 🇦🇺 gambling with the game and the wi team, got lucky and capitalized with the game. Young lady you are very biased or lacking proper understanding, about the whole criteria of the game. Because there is no team in the world would do what Australia 🇦🇺 did,by declaring with 2 first inning wickets give their opponents. The lead with 22 runs when they have a very glorious chance to give the wi team a,first inning lead. I hates to listened to hypocrites young lady, I don't want to ruff you up too much. I know that you are very happy but,you got to admit. That Australia 🇦🇺 captain gave away the ,because he really under estimated the wi team. Because the team is still no good at all, Desmond Haynes and the rest of selectors them still, need to go. I am not impressed by the winning at all and, I know that you have a lot of cyber bullies out there. Who is very, very biased against the truth, you all know that Australia 🇦🇺 gave away the game from a logical point of view. Also it is full time to get rid of Desmond Haynes and Roland Butcher, also the rest of selectors.
