I’m an li native growing up in Uniondale. My school is literally a block away from the coliseum. When I go to the coliseum, the energy is so crazy that I can’t find the words to describe it. When I watch the Isles on TV, I can still feel the energy through the tv. I’m excited and upset at what the future holds. I’m gonna miss going to the barn with my Isles merch. It was bad enough when the FDNY vs NYPD hockey game moved, but now we lost and probably gained a new place to yell, scream, chant, eat, and just enjoy a good game of hockey. Ima miss going to ya, Nassau Coliseum. Edit: I’m also going to miss the amazing moments, such as the amazing save that Pulock just made to win. That was amazing.

Even as a Penguins fan, I can appreciate and respect the history that this building has for the Islanders and their fans. I was actually happy to see them go back there to play some games after the ill-executed move to Brooklyn. Nassau Coliseum, the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh, the Spectrum, Joe Louis Arena, Buffalo Memorial Auditorium... some of the best buildings ever for hockey.

And I respect you're coment!!! Born and raised here in Buffalo New York walking inside Buffalo memorial auditorium especially as a child Seeing those giant cigarette shapped sound baffles that swayed from the rafters walking up the long ramp to the orange seats ( we were poor 😅) The sights the smells is something I will never forget we never raised a banner only chance came in 1974 But the aud in Buffalo was home just like rich stadium for the Buffalo Bills the only difference was memorial auditorium had a roof to hold all those memories inside within. They don't make arenas stadiums like that more no character . Greetings to you from Buffalo New York.

I would add that the Coliseum is an amazing concert venue. Saw Metallica here in '97 and they melted my face off, saw Black Sabbath with Ozzy, and Pantera in '99 and they blew the roof off the place. To this day those are the best concerts I've ever been to.

As a Wings fan, Im loving this Islander run in the playoffs and really love watching them play at home! That old barn with the quirks and history is exactly how we felt about Joe Louis Arena in Detroit (now replaced by sterile feeling Little Ceasars arena.) Best of luck the rest of the way!

I'm a Long Island native. I was in attendance at all 3 Islanders home Cup wins. The Islanders made the NVMC the historic building it is today and the Islanders will make UBS arena the NEW BARN with new history, new legacies and new legends. The NVMC will fall without the Islanders. It's sad, but the politicians and public citizens of Nassau County and Hempstead/Uniondale DID NOT WANT THE ISLANDERS to stay. So be it. UBS is the NEW BARN and Islanders fans will ROCK IT.

As an Islander fan I remember those 4 Stanley Cup years as if it were yesterday. The islanders could play any game the opposing team wanted to play. Not an Islanders fan, so why is Barclays so cruel to the Islanders?
@Charles_Groebs3 жыл бұрын
@@thecaynuck4694 Its several reason but I think two really stick out. The first was Barclays was originally built to be a Basketball Arena and wasn’t designed for dual use which caused rough ice and lack of amenities. Another is that they couldn’t get good attendances because Barclays is in Brooklyn and most of there fanbase is across the bridge on Long Island.
@moshelieberman4713 жыл бұрын
@charles groebner although what you said is true about the fan base being in Long Island Brooklyn is not across any bridge it happens to actually be geographically on the same island as Long Island in fact even part of the strip on the logo however moving to Brooklyn was really painful because as the guy said in the video Brooklyn is not Long Island and Long Island is not Brooklyn they are two separate worlds and it is a pretty long train ride and all REAL Long Island fans where deeply offended by the irresponsible move of moving away from true home

As an Islanders fan since the 1970’s the Edmonton Oilers were an excellent dynasty. They were younger and hungrier in 1984 to beat the Islanders but what hurts their legacy is losing in 1986 to the Flames and not winning a championship in 1989. Three straight is a big deal and Oilers couldn’t do it. With that stated they were outstanding and even won in 1990 after Gretzky went to Los Angeles. I think the 1976-79 Canadiens were the best Dynasty ever followed by the Islanders and then The Edmonton Oilers after at number 3.

the nhl wanted a canadian based team to finally win the cup in 84.Thats why they unfairly gave the oilers 3 STRAIGHT games in edmonton.It has neer been allowed since in the playoffs in mlb baseball nhl hockey or nba basketball because anybody with common sense knows its a unfair advantage.game 1 of the 84 finals was a 1-0 oiler win anybody will tell you it was a fluke goal and the game could have gone either way.game 2 was a 6-1 islander blowout.if game 5 was in nassau as it should have been islanders win the cup.I would take the islander roster with bossy trottier potvin smith tonelli lafontaine over the oilers gretzky kurri messier anderson fuhr coffey ANYDAY

Vanessa Carlson: With all due respect, the 2-3-2 format was used in the Stanley Cup finals the following year (1985). The first two games were in Philly. Games 3-5 were in Edmonton. The NBA Finals used the 2-3-2 format every year from 1985-2014. As for MLB, they have been using the 2-3-2 format in the World Series for a long time now. If the 2-2-1-1-1 format was used in 1984, I would argue that the Oilers win in six. The Isles may have staved off elimination back home on Long Island but I believe #99 & Co. close them out at Northlands Coliseum in game six. I have the utmost respect for the NY Islanders. They were an amazing dynasty. What they pulled off (19 consecutive playoff series victories) will probably never be duplicated. However, let's give credit where credit is due. The Oilers WERE a great dynasty in their own right. In fact, I don't think five Stanley Cups in seven years will ever be duplicated either.

"A club like Calgary, a humpty dumpty team". What is this guy talking about? I am an Oiler fan and will be the first to say that the Flames in the 80s were not a "Humpty Dumpty" team. Anyone who travelled through Alberta in the 80s on a road trip was either going to get beat up by the Flames or burned by goals by the Oilers. Most teams were lucky to walk out with one win. Arguably the two best teams in the league for a few years. Calgary made it to two finals in the 80s which is also mentionable. This guy loses credibility when talking with such an uneducated bias.
